Basically, I have tried to deal with the Mitsubishi Customer Service Dept. regarding the white and black spots appearing on my television screen.  Apparently it is a DLB chip that has malfunctioned.  The service provider stated that it has happened a lot.  The service technician stated that Mitsubishi will handle the problem by giving a deep discount on a new television of the similar size or ordering the DLP chip and having it installed by one of its local service technicians.  However, they have offered me the DLP chip under the condition that I pay $195.00 to have a Mitsubishi service technician install the DLP chip.  I paid $2,700 at HH Gregg slightly over 4 years ago for this television and for it to go bad so quickly, it seems they would want to repair the television without any charges to the customer as a kind gesture (customer loyalty).  However, I have spoken to several representatives of Mitsubishi on several different occasions (one specifically named Fred)  to only tell me they can't do anything.  It is a manufacturer defective product and it wouldn't surprise me the next thing that happens is that it catches on fire.  I am sure they would careless.  If there are any attorneys out there handling a class action against Mitsubishi for this defect, please contact me immediately.  I would like to be a part of a class action.  I've been without a perfectly operating television for months (April).  I am going to the news media to see if they can do any broadcasting on their news cast to convince new Mitsubishi customers about their loyalty and the defective product.

EVERY ONE WANTS HAND OUTS

AUTHOR: who cares - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 06, 2011

This is quite funny to me.

What is the point to companies having warranties any more if things should be repaired for free.

My breaks just went bad in my car unexpected i got them a li'l over a year ago does that mean i get them replaced for free???

Reading this makes me laugh some people have so much time to think of the stupidest SH**.   If you have done your research you would no there is no possible way the tv would catch on fire.

I bet if you looked at every brand TV or any other electronic product you would see everything has some kind of issue. Yes these companies are big doe not mean they are perfect the amount of things sold to the amount that have issues is so min, yes it sucks when you have one with a issue but when a company try's to help at all when tv is out of warranty is pretty remarkable. God forbid companies do not replace every tv or product that has a repairable failure.

Some people need to grow up and stop thinking they are entitled to things.

I really hope you file a law suit and waste your money a company as big as Mitsubishi i'm sure has already got legal advise on what they are obligated to cover so best of luck with that, get a life and find something better to do!!!

Meaning of Warranty

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 06, 2011

You seem to think that because this is a manufacturers defect, that they should fix it for free.  I think the meaning of the word "warranty" escapes you.

The warranty covers you against manufacturers defects for a given period of time.  After that you are on your own.    It's that simple.   If you don't believe me, read it yourself.

The idea that a manufacturer should be responsible for a defect years after the warranty expired is absurd.   I think that offering the repair for $195 is pretty generous.   Most other manufacturers would just tell you to go pound sand.

"   I would like to be a part of a class action.  "

In order for there to be a class action, you'd have to show that the manufacturer is responsible.  The warranty is pretty clear about who is responsible for repairs after it has expired.   This is a non-starter.

" I am going to the news media to see if they can do any broadcasting on their news cast to convince new Mitsubishi customers about their loyalty and the defective product. "

That's funny.   Do you really think the news media cares if a TV that is over 4 years old broke?  Does that sound like news to you?   I think a reality check is in order.

W-A-A-Y out of warranty.

What's this world coming to.

I would have eagerly accepted their generous offer.

TI (Texas Instruments) designed the chip, sue them and BTW, it's DLP not DLB.

You have NO cause whatsoever for a class action suit, no laws have been broken and as noted above, your warranty is LONG expired.

Accept their generous offer and get on with life....geez. If you don't you'll just prove you're a moron.

No, I DON'T work for Mitsubishi or TI.

Since you're also suspicious that your TV will now catch fire, stop using it.

What gave you the idea that this small DLP chip could cause your set to burst into flames and burn your house down with you in it.
