Our family bought into this so called 3 year contract in June of 2000. We had experienced many difficulties with the system but stayed true to contract for three years. We tried to get out of it after a year or so with no luck. They said it was a legal contract for the 3 year term.

March 1st of 2000 my wife called and they told her that she would need to complete the contract through May to complete the 3 year contract. She called back again at the end of May to terminate the services at which time they said you will have to do that in writing.

At no time present to this was this ever mentioned. EVER! My wife then sent in a letter to terminate all services. They replied back saying it was to late now to cancel and that there was an automatic 1 year renewal. ( How convenient )

My wife had made many attempts to talk to someone in Customer Service trying to correct this obvious mistake. I am a firm believer that Customer Service people that work for Monitronics are trained to be deceitful and lie!

I simply could not believe that any company would treat a customer this way so I began to make some calls myself only to be left with my mouth hanging open in disbelief. After talking with several Customer Service Reps and realizing they were all telling me the same story, "You are in a legal and binding contract sir " even though I pleaded with them that they needed to take some responsibility for this because there customer service people should be required to tell you the truth and actually try to help you instead lie and cheat.

I was then tranfered to a supervisor. I stayed on the phone for over 20 minutes but nobody ever came back. Now I am getting upset and in disbelief that I am being treated this way. I hung up and called back and did eventually talk with a so called supervisor. He said basically the same thing as all the others until I became irate. He then said if I paid an amount of 2 hundred and some odd dollars I could buy my way out of the contract that I had been trying to get out of for a year. I even became more irate feeling like I had just been bribed.

I ended up disconecting with this so called gentleman and went to the Corporate website hoping to find someone that would actually listen and do something about it. I started at the top trying to talk to CEO and on down. Well of course I did not have the pleasure but did end up with some high ranking Manager which only defended the practices of her employee's even though they were deceitful and misleading.

I was very firm with this person had told her it ended here today, right now nad that I would not pay them 1 more cent and she would also be named on the lawsuit. She finally said that I was the rudest person that she had ever talked to and just to get me off there backs she was going to " Cancel our service and credit our account" to which I replied " then we will not be harrassed any more by phone calls and messages regarding this matter " and she said NO you will not here from us ever again and that she hoped I was proud of myself by beating up on a woman!

I replied " Thank you Linda and have a nice day. I can only hope that this nightmare is over. Good luck to you all and never sign anything without reading completly every single word before signing on the dotted line.
