In 2005 after much courting by Monitronics our company decided to become an Authorized Monitronics Dealer. We could compete with the big companies now and Monitronics would buy the FREE systems we installed and fund us. Sounds OK.

To make a long story short...the paperwork is so burdonsome, 90% of all contracts are turned down after the first try for funding. They are impossible to get a hold of. We had them send other dealers out for add ons to systems that our company installed!

As for cancelling an account, it is nearly impossible and if you are 1 day late paying your monitoring fees they contact your customer directly and offer the service cheaper! They just want to steal your customers and hire an unlicensed cheap subcontractor to perform the service at slave rates.

There is absolutely no support.

They still use SIA format which is old style and doesn't work with digital phones.

They have no VRT for the techs to use, instead the techs wait on hold for hours just to check signals.

I have found that they billed me for accounts they purchased and also billed the customer for service...whos customer is it?

Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from these clowns as possible. Do business the old fashioned way and CHARGE for your systems. You will end up with a better quality customer in the end. Also do your customers a favor and keep them away from Monitronics...I am in the process of converting as many of my customers back to good central stations that care about their customers.

Of course they don't tell you any of this while your taking the training in Dallas. They just tell you how easy it is and how much money you will make and all the support available. All LIES!!!!

SIA format old style?

AUTHOR: AlarmTech - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, December 28, 2009

How is the SIA format old "style" When I think old style I think of 3/1 format or 4/2 which uses the slowest 300 baud rate. SIA and Contact ID are standard fast formats. No undefined signals and they come over 3 times faster than other formats. Listen on your buttset to a 4/2 signal sometime and compare it to SIA, see which is faster. And yes you can get it to work with digital phones, but not VoIP. It seems alot of people in the industry cant seem to tell the difference. Digital phones go through the cable provider to the phone company to Monitronics. VoIp goes from the unregulated internet to the regular phone systems. There is no standards for these and they are not reliable. You should not hook up a system to VoIP in the 1st place, that's what cell units are for.
The is no VRT, there is a website you can acess to do all your testing and signal checks. And with the internet available every where you could do that. VRT are dangerous now because they help verify off caller ID, but these IDs can be fooled not. And being Monitronics is a SECURITY company they seemed to have opted to play it safe.
It seems like to  me you could not provide decent accounts to buy and ended up not paying your bill. And when Monitronics has to notify your customers that your have failed to pay their monitoring because they are in danger of have their service cut off. But if airing your sour grapes here makes you feel better than go ahead.
