Well, where do I begin? Should I start on their inventory, or go straight to when they order parts? Yea, they give you a discount, so you think. Have you ever wondered how they can take an $800 brake job, pads and rotors, and wonder how they can give you 50% off? Well lets just say that even though your getting that nice discount, so you think, they are still making well over on most jobs 85-90% profit!! Now thats if they have those parts in stock for your car/truck and don't have to order out from another parts store. If they do that, then you pay on most occasions 3 times the cost they get it.  For example, say a rotor costs them $30, they will charge you for that same rotor you can buy for $30 if you got it yourself, but instead they will mark it up to $99. Now as far as their inventory, say that same rotor we just talked about is in stock, their cost on that same rotor is anywhere between $10-$20, and there selling it for $139.99 or higher.

Same thing with brake pads, you can get ceramic pads for most cars/trucks if you buy them yourself for $40-$80 depending on brand name. However, Monro sells them for $130-and higher, no labor there either

Break this down,
2 brake rotors you buy on average will run $70 for both total
1 set of 4 premium ceramic pads you buy will run $50
Doing it yourself labor is free, or find a friend or a mechanic on craigslist most do pads and rotors for like $60 if you bring your own parts  Total if done that way, Around $180, and thats a rough idea and I think i'm just a little high on that too.

With that said, I just saved another 50% off there already 50% off they supposedly gave you to begin with. Yes, they offer pads free for life, which is built into the price and you still have to pay the labor to do it again anyway. Labor is at least 1 hour at the going labor rate. So really, the pads may sound free, but your still paying for them.

The parts they have in inventory, not just brakes, but exhaust, suspension, alternators, starters, struts, shocks, etc.... is all marked up at least 200-400% over their cost.

I think you get what I'm saying, so save your money, find someone who will take care of you and your wallet.

Catholic social services???

I was just curious,  how much profit margin do you think Monro should make, in your opinion??
Should the shop be like Catholic social services. We can find volunteers to fix your vehicle and maybe a local business that can donate the parts too. My point being that Monro is a FOR profit organization. We are not a wholesale parts outlet. I seldom hear any complaints about the price people pay for services from other skilled laborers, plumbers, electricians,HVAC ect... But am constantly hearing complaints about the price of car repairs. I deserve to be paid well for my knowledge. Most other skilled trades do essentially the same things on a daily basis, with the same specs., codes, procedures ect.. I on the other hand have to deal with different systems and designs on an hourly basis.

If monro is making such a killing maybe you should buy a building, or 700 buildings, all the heavy shop equipment, hire some ASE certified technicians, deal with hazardous waste disposal on top of utilities and tell me what you think your profit margin should be??
