I was in Texas from January - May, 2012 because of work. During that time, I joined Monster X Camp. Because I got a better rate, I signed up for a 6 month membership (even though I'd only be there for 5) and paid it in 2 installments (1/25 & 2/17). I was instructed that I had to cancel my membership in writing before leaving the gym which I did. I wrote a letter and left it on the desk of the office manager. Everyone at the gym knew I was leaving the state and returning to my home in New York. By September, I had moved to Ohio where I now reside.

On August 27 (or there about), $108.80 was deducted from my checking account. I called the gym and was told it was a mistake. I waited for my money to be refunded, but a month later another $108.80 was withdrawn. That time, I called the 800# on my bank statement which led to Member Solutions, a 3rd party billing service. They claim I initialed the auto-renewal portion of the contract and that I am responsible for the 6 month contract unless I prove a change of residency. So I filled out their form and sent a copy of my OH drivers license. They say they need proof that I relocated earlier so I sent a copy of my mortgage statement from NY. They have stopped withdrawing money from my account, but they say they will never refund my money. Monster X Camp says the billing company withdrew the money and therefore the error is theirs and Monster X Camp will not refund my money.

It's only $218, but both parties have been so rude and dismissive; I don't want them to have my money. I hate that company's make money from unsuspecting people on these kinds of sleazy deals. My local bank branch manager says he hears these stories all the time and it's very hard to get your money back. How is this possible? Clearly, if I had signed up for auto-renewal, that would have started in June, not August, right?. And furthermore, when I joined Monster X Camp, I had no idea or expectation that I was signing a contract for a 3rd party biller. I was told by the billing company that I should have sent my letter to them. Why would it be obvious to me that I have to mail a letter to a company I didn't know existed? I didn't keep my contract; I was joining a gym, not buying a house. In fact, a look back through my bank statements revealed that the initial withdrawls were made from Monster X Camp, NOT this billing company.

Monster X Camp forwarded my information to the billing company and obviously received the money from them. Coach Larry Clay is the worst type of Christian Hypocrite. He and his company are sleazy. I'm sure most people value their time more than the effort and frustration it takes to deal with him and get $200 returned and therefore, he makes thousands of dollars a year on these one or two month "mistakes."
