I purchased a chinese shar pei from next day pets. The seller Rebecca Miller from Moo Pei Kennel in Mt. Vernon Kentucky was the seller. I chose to purchase from next day pets because they advertise that they protect you against Scams and Fraud! I picked out the puppy listed named Waylon. I gave her a deposit. After she took my money she all of a sudden had problems with shipping. Her excuses were she had to work at a video store, and she didn't have time. Then she says she cancelling the sale and she can't give me money back because she spent it on her other dogs. I live in Bear Delaware. I have contacted the police, a lawyer, and her states prosecuting attorneys office. Buyers Beware of this scam!!!!!

AUTHOR: Rebecca - Moopei Kennel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I was contacted by Attice's brother (brother in law?) concerning a litter of puppies that I had listed for sale on next day pets. They were interested in purchasing a puppy and I informed him of the terms and conditions. (all deposits are non-refundable, must be paid for in full before shipping, flight availability and weather conditions etc.) Attice was then ready to place a deposit and she was directed to my website (www.moopeikennel.com) where she could place a deposit or pay for the puppy in full because he was almost old enough to ship. She placed a $250 non refundable deposit through a paypal button on my website, right below the button in bold red letters is "deposits are non-refundable". Within a few days Attice decided because my puppy would not keep blue eyes that she didn't want him and wanted her money back. I informed her that deposits were non refundable. She said she understood. Then a few weeks later she called out of the blue and wanted to know when I was going to ship her puppy. I reminded her of our last conversation and she let me know that she expected her puppy or her money back or else.

Attice contacted my local police department, the police department called me. The officer wanted my side of the story. During my conversation with the officer, I gave him the address for my website, information on where she made her payment (on my website and through paypal). I informed the officer that if she thought she had been scammed then she should've contacted paypal or her credit card company. After our conversation, the officer said he would contact Attice Westbrook and let her know that she had not been scammed.

Attice also contacted Next Day Pets and I provided my side.

I have been breeding Chinese Sharpei puppies for 7 years. I have never scammed anyone and will never scam anyone. I also love my puppies and in doing so, I will not send a puppy to someone that does not want them because they will not have a certain eye color. If I wanted to scam Attice I could've told her that Waylon would keep his blue eyes but that would've been a lie. I was upfront and truthful with her and told her that his eyes would probably turn brown as he gets older. I will not send my puppy to someone that tells me point blank that they do not want the "dog" because he was not unique enough. Attice stated she lived in a gated community and wanted a unique dog that would stand out.

Dogs are a lifetime committment and is not to be taken lightly. When we talk to families we inform them of the committment of owning a dog and that our deposits are non-refundable because we want to make sure potential families have thought long and hard about their decision.
