Complaint Description:
I dropped my Dodge SRT4 at service last week after explaining over the phone the repairs required on two occasions. I also wrote on the key drop envelope exactly what I wanted done. All locks and ignition replaced, a new key, and a new transmitter. I was quoted $280. They informed me over the phone they needed a prepayment.

I got the check from my insurance agent at Progressive, and had my fiance deliver the check on Monday the 7th of Dec. Service Dept told him the car was finished and had him sign a work order which detailed what was done. They brought the car out and told him to have a nice day.

However, Scott, my fiance, noticed that they were the same keys and there was no transmitter. He questioned them and he had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to come ask him what was his problem. He believes the guy's name was Keith. The man he spoke with acted as if he had no idea what was going on, then came back, and told Scott the parts were not in and nothing had been done on the car. THis is after they accepted the check and brought the car out.

He then took Scott to their computer to check on the parts and he told Scott that coincidently the parts had just came in that morning and they could do the repair that day. We were able to drop the car off the following day, Tuesday the 8th. Keith called me and informed me it would be an extra approximately $400 for the labor, which was not quoted in the original price, and that I could not get my car until this was paid.

Scott had contacted the Customer Relations lady and spoke with her back on Monday, and she promised to call him back, but never did. Scott and I also both left messages with the General Manager at Morgan Dodge and have not heard from him.

I am not concerned about the pricing since this is an insurance issue, however I truely feel there have been some discrepencies with the service department practices, and possible fraud. This issue needs to be considered and either the management at Morgan dodge needs to address it, or DaimlerChrysler needs to be notified. DaimlerChrysler should be calling me for a survey and I will be notifying them of the situation. If there is fraud involved it needs to be handled appropriately.

This case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at the Better Business Bureau, and then forwarded to the business for their response if appropriate. It is our policy to allow the business 14 working days to respond to your complaint. You will be notified when the business has responded.

$280 for parts AND labor sounds VERY low!

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 07, 2006

"All locks and ignition replaced, a new key, and a new transmitter. I was quoted $280."

$280 for the parts ONLY- maybe. The parts may not be returnable (special electrics) and so the advance payment was required FOR THE PARTS ONLY.

I suspect the added $400 is for the LABOR. A shop rate of $70 an hour would suggest 5.7 hours.
