Mountain Medical Unethical Collection Practices Murray Utah

My wife had medical procedures provided by Mountain Medical earlier this year (January or February). We received a statement from Mountain Medical billing with a statement date of 03/12/2015 and a due date of 04//01/2015. We made a payment reflecting 50% of the total due on or about March 15, 2015 with the verbal agreement between us and Mountain Medical billing that the remaining amount would be paid within 60 days.

Today, May 11th, 2015 we received a collections letter from Business Revenue Systems of Burlington Iowa with a statement date of May 5th, 2015 demanding payment of the remaining balance. Other than the original statement from Mountain Medical dated 03/12/2015, we received no written or oral communication from them at all. We went from a 50% (nearly $700) good faith payment and a verbal agreement with the billing department for 60 days to pay the remaining balance, to a formal collection letter in less than 60 days.

Any reasonable business would send a second statement the following month showing the remaining balance and a reminder that the balance is 30 days past due. We got nothing. We have spotless credit and have not been taken to collections in the last 10 years. This is an unethical strong-arm tactic and is an embarrassment to both Mountain Medical billing, and my family.
