move management fail to do their work they do not have any partners in Haiti they contacted concorde as a third party company negotiated a contract with them which they also fail to honor. No one in the company guided me as to what to expect having left haiti for 27 years I was as unaware as them offf the customs rules in haiti they claimed to be familiar with the country all of a sudden they know every trick with haitian customs. the company refered me to the haitian consulate for a tax exemption and I have gotten the required document now they want to go to court that should of been their first recourse instead of all the slander and the under handed procedure and tactic that they use they could have resorted to the court. All this story that is being address by them are the injustice done in the process but the fact that several of my boxes were missing are not even address in the process the same way they are willing to go to court they do not have to wait for me they should go there if they know i am saying anything that is not true again i will reinstate that i was misguided wrongly charged and several of my personal boxes were missing upon receipt of my personal goods the company ship their good on their name and i contacted the people whome they said were there associate now they claiming that the fact that i have contacted those people that they refered me to were an attempt to get the container behind their back .....They are dishonest and advertise services that they could not offer. I will not rebut anymore of their slander I just want the public to deal with this company with caution

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Rebuttal to false report on shipment to Haiti

The claim filed against my company is completely false and as i informed the client, she is more than welcome to place a complaint with the FMC, which is the governing body overseeing our industry but slander against my company will be addressed head on.
She claims that we were ill informed about the particulars when shipping to Haiti. This is simply not true and we provided her with the details for importation of her goods (household and an auto) with our initial proposal as well as country specific fact sheet upon confirmation of the move. We also informed her that she would need to take all her paperwork to the Haitian Consulate prior to the container departure, going over what she should expect in duties and taxes upon the containers arrival to Haiti. Haiti is notorious for excessive fees and charges, something that was also addressed at our offices here, as well as by our agent in Haiti.
We packed and loaded her container, export cleared the vehicle and sent her an invoice for services that did not vary from the estimated costs provided to her. While promising on a few ocassions to come to the office to liquidate her balance, she never materialized and the container sailed to Haiti, still with 80% of the charges unpaid. We proceeded to try and contact the client at every number provided with no success. The container arrived to Port-au-Prince within a few days and our agent spoke to the client, informed her of the documentation required and charges assessed by the local customs, and told her the shipment was on hold in the US by our firm she needed to pay her invoice for the release to be issued, noted on ALL our paperwork. Again, the promise that she would contact us. As time went on, over a week, the container began to incur charges at the port and I, as Managing Director, was made aware of the issue. I did call the client at all hours, getting an answer one night, and she began to yell, saying that she never knew she would need to pay duties and taxes, which I informed was noted on documents and confirmed when she went to the consulate. She hung up on me.
I then sent her a demand e-mail, advising her that i would begin the process of having the container returned to the US and begin auction proceedings if payment was not forthcoming. I copied her on my correspondence with the SS Line and they (Crowley, the ss line) then informed me that there was an application being made by the client to clear and take the container from the port, trying to circumvent our charges. I authorized them to return the container and then the client miraculously appeared. She called, wanting to cut a deal and have the charges reduced.
After much back and forth, and to move on from what was a very difficult client, who was acting in poor faith, i agreed to a reduced amount which also excluded any and all destination service costs, i.e. customs clearance, container movement and delivery in Haiti. As such, our liability ended at the containers arrival in Haiti. Since we had no direction and control of the shipment in Haiti, we could not confirm the conditions of the shipment at delivery. Also, the client waived the insurance option, which is a standard marine transit policy issued by Lloyds of London and used by the majority of international movers, hardly a policy that does not cover everything but quite the opposite.
I believe that this person acted in bad faith, trying to have the container pulled from the port and every intention to not pay our charges, hoping to work the system in Haiti, which we all know is extremely corrupt. I believe that if I would have not placed a block on the container, she would have proceeded to have the container released and it would be close to impossible to recover our costs.
I have quite a bit of correspondence and supporting documentation attesting everything I have stated herein. I also advised the client that if she feels wronged, the courts are always available and I would be more than happy to prove our position.
