MovieFacts is very deceptive. This is a scamming sales trick. This is apparently the only way the company can obtain business. Beware - Due your due diligence on this company before you consider using them.
A salesperson from Moviefacts approached an employee at my business and offered these advertising services. Moviefacts claims this employee stated they were authorized to make financial decisions for my company and apparently placed advertising. I saw nothing on it, never saw a bill, never received a call - nothing. Suddenly, I receive a bill for 4 months of advertising. I called the company, informing them I have no knowlegde of this - Moviefacts was quick to respond that it is my responsibility to make sure my employees know what they can and can not do. Seriously?
Take note, Moviefacts informed me that this discussion took place in Oct 2013; at which time my employee was to call back and pay for the service via credit card. They did not receive a call back and was unable to contact this employee or anyone about payment. Moviefacts decided to run the advertising anyway. The advertising was said to run from Dec 2013 till March 2014. So, What did Moviefacts think to do during the period between Oct 2013 and Dec 2013 when no one could be reached and payment wasnt received?? Lets run it anyway.
Now, in March 2014; I receive a bill for 4 months of advertising and the bill is addressed to my employee. Along with the billed invoice is a pamphlet showing a sample of the advertising. This sample is a photo copy of a general business card we place on our front counter of the store. The card was altered and a discount of 30% off everything in the store was placed on it. This is in no way how I do advertising.
Our store was set and scheuled to be closed on Feb 15th due to our leased property going into bankruptcy and the new owners not renewing leases under the same terms. We opted to close the store until we could find an alternate location.
Moviefacts can not produce any documentation as to who authorized any advertising or authorized use of my company name and logo. Moviefacts stands firm that it is my problem, my employee. Well, it is amazing how things just fall into place. The employee and salesperson for Moviefacts has a whole different story as to what took place during this discussion in Oct 2013 at my place of business. Not only was Moviefacts in my store but a bold sign is hung behind the register; providing the owner(s) name and email contact information. Moviefacts salesperson had full view of this information.
Moviefacts has threatened me with collection actions; this is a scare tactic that does not faze me. I want to see the authorization given to Moviefacts to provide any advertising services on behalf of my company. I want to see where any proof or draft was provided for what to advertise. They have nothing; they know they have nothing and yet they still attempt to threaten for payment.
You can not use, reproduce or advertise a company name and or logo without the permission of the company and or logo owner. Regardless as to what Moviefacts claims was said by any of my employee's; they would never have the authority to authorize use of these items in an advertising manner. Moviefacts should spend a little more time doing some due diligence on advertising laws and requirements; instead of speading so much time attempting to collect false and fraudulent charges.
I have spoken with the employee involved and the story is completely different - so without any documentation or proof from Moviefacts; this is nothing more than he said, she said rumor.
