One day, I started my laptop where in a Popup screen with no close, minimize, or mute buttons, a message appeared that my 3 day Free Trial Of Movieland was up and I was obligated to pay them. I had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get the annoying popup away so I could use my Computer. Then I could not find in the Add/Remove programs under Control Panel, anything listed as "Moviepass Uninstallation", or anything listed in Program Files under the name moviepass.

This makes the first issue. No clear way to uninstall in the Add/Remove Programs where the program should be listed if it claims I downloaded it. Why is there nothing listed as "MoviePass" or "Moviepass.tv" or "Movieland" or "Moviepass Uninstaller".

So while researching the company I found it installed itself as "License Manager".

This makes the second issue. If a program called Moviepass downloaded onto the computer, why does it say "License Manager", this Name makes no clear indication that it is involved with MoviePass at all. "License Manager" is a vague name that can be used for anything including DRM from another company, why use the Name "License Manager" that has no clear connection with Moviepass and MovieLand. Please explain this.

Next I went to Add/Remove Programs to remove it.
What should have happened is, a program would open up installshield which gives you the option to remove the program, then it would uninstall and remove itself from the machine.

This makes the third issue. Why when a user clicks to remove "License Manager" they are instead directed to a website that makes no option to cancel? Each and every option showed a payment method. There was no cancel button, there was no link to remove from their service or their program. Do not tell me that I had to go somewhere else on the moviepass.tv website to find out the information on how to cancel the service. There should be a clear way on the page that License Manager sent me to, to remove the program. Since it failed to do this, this company has set itself up as malware, which is why it is listed on s****.> So now that I could not uninstall it, nor had no information listed on the license manager to uninstall it, I searched to find instructions on how to remove it, I had to boot up the computer in safe mode just to stop it from popping up. Then delete it from there.

This brings up the next issue. Why must a user have to go into safe mode just to manually uninstall this program.

Now let me explain how trial programs and services are run as shareware. After a trial period has run out, when a user click to OPEN a program that has its trial period over, the program may now say, Your trial period is over and you must pay for the program to continue using it otherwise it is disabled. This clearly doesn't happen under moviepass.tv . The program wasn't even opened by the user. It pops up on its own when windows starts up then pops over most of the screen. You claim that this way is the same as a magazine advertisement asking you to pay if you want to continue recieving issues, but a magazine does not lock you out of your car asking you to pay them before you can use it. You also claim you have plenty of satisfied customers. So why on the internet all the messages I have seen were complaints, distrust, and bashing the way your company practices.
I suggest you change your company's ways before a class action lawsuit will be filed against you for any damages made to computers.

New Remove MoviePass Cancellation Policy

AUTHOR: Thor - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Moviepass has changed their cancellation terms and this is causing some people some difficulty in cancelling their accounts. Their toll-free number has been removed from their website and there is now a web page you must visit to cancel your MoviePass account.

If you attempt to visit the website from a computer that is not infected, you will be told that you do not have access to the members area, and be given an opportunity to infect yourself again.

If you are infected, you will see a screen that tells you you must pay money to cancel your account.

Please remember when you contact MoviePass that you do not have to pay them anything, and do not give them any additional information about yourself even if they say they need it to cancel your account. They can't bill you at all if they don't have your information.

The facts on Movieland / Moviepass...

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 30, 2006

First of all, Moviepass and Movieland are NOT BUSINESSES.

They have no legal business entity established such as even a business license or fictitious name filing.

The business address they use is a private mailbox.

This is just some scam being run out of someones home, and they only started on/about 10/2005. Therefore this is just a failed business startup.

The character who only identified as "Legal" has not been back here since I exposed the scam. Nor has my challenge been met to prove a legal business entity exists.
