The worst part about this is that Windows Media Player version 10 refers you to these morons as their favorite pick! I should'a known better from "highwayman" Gates' crew!

CAVEAT EMPTOR!! These bozos actually refuse reply e-mail sent to them with fake customer service e-mail addresses! BOTH their primary Website AND their alledged customer service e-mail box refuse e-mail!! Contact information is nearly impossible to find: Their physical address is not listed, and if you try and find them with a WhoIs search they've hidden their registration information. This is NEVER a good sign for a conscientious buyer!

Mp3-Freebie.com and affiliated sites masquerade as a legitimate online music operation, but instead end up selling you Gnutella file-stealing software. If I wanted to break the law by using Gnutella to download music files I wouldn't have paid for them to do it for me!

With a little searching I found they're affiliated with CashEngines.com and I made an e-mail demand for refund with someone known as Ian Bacon at that Website, described as an "affiliate manager."

Contacts listed at the CashEngines.com Website are Ian Bacon, ian@cashengines.com, 514-448-6931, ext. 271 and Darren Berze, darren.berze@cashengines.com, 514-448-6931, ext. 274.

I'll post an update when I have it. I fully expect them to ignore my demand for a refund, about $25, and to have to file an Internet fraud report and notify my bank and the FBI about them.

CONFRONTED THEM!

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 11, 2006

NEVER got a reply e-mail from Music Member's Area or MP3-Freebie.com after sending demand for refund of what they agreed to charge, $27.76. So I cancelled my charge card through my bank and ordered another.

After the experience described in the initial report, I sent the e-mail below (inside the double quotes) to the sneaky *&$#ers at the SEEMINGLY unrelated Website, CashEngines.com:

""To: ian@cashengines.com, darren.berze@cashengines.com
From: Mike
Subject: Internet Fraud and Credit Fraud
Cc: affmgr@cashengines.com, techsupp@cashengines.com

Your operation might be reported to the US FBI and Canadian authorities as being suspected in Internet fraud and credit card fraud. I would suspect Canadian authorities are a little more nimble than those in USA, but I know those in America will eventually find and prosecute you if you've been doing what you're doing to more than a few people. If you've got anything to lose, you're gonna have to be quick on your feet.

Of course, if you wanted to quickly issue a refund in the correct amount that I was charged, I'd be willing to mention you at least did that much. That you were able to dupe me into providing my charge card information is fascinating to me. It makes me even more interested in how online fraud works. Maybe I'll even take it up as an avocation... I've already had at least one offer from a good friend who owns a forensics consulting firm.

THEN, Surprise!!! Then got the reply below (inside double quotes) from YET ANOTHER, NEW DOMAIN, WITHOUT EVER HEARING FROM THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT AT MUSIC MEMBERS!!:

IT WILL BE ESPECIALLY INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT APPEARS OR DOESN'T APPEAR ON MY BANK STATEMENT. THIS COMPANY HAS NOT ADDRESSED MY SUGGESTIONS ABOUT FRAUD, BUT ANY COMPANY WITH ANY SENSE WOULD HAVE ANSWERED THOSE IMPLICATIONS IMMEDIATELY!!! I PREDICT I'LL NEVER HEAR FROM THEM. WE'LL SEE, NO?
