I am writing this because we were scammed by Nanette Agulto and Mr. Handyman and dont want the same to happen to anyone else.

My wife is 8 months pregnant and before our baby comes we wanted to fix up the house for our upcoming baby. We hired Nanette who owns Mr. Handyman after doing research online and reading reviews left by two previous customers. We felt since Mr. Handyman is a national franchise that they would offer good service at fair prices. We were very mistaken. We have been scammed by Nanette Agulto and Mr. Handyman for $5,000. Not one project has been completed. We have been literally out of a bathroom for 4 wks; try living in a one bathroom house with an 8 month pregnant wife.

After she collected her $5,000 for the unfinished project, we were left with a completely gutted bathroom and all 7 other projects werent even touched.

This was supposed to be a moderately small job; we were assured by Derrick and Nanette Agulto that it would take 3 DAYS to finish the job, and that the complete job of the bathroom remodel, painted kitchen, finished ceiling, and finished wood building would total $4,900. In reality, here is what happened FOUR WEEKS from the date that they started our bathroom is still completely gutted, with not toilet, no water, no floor, no walls and no ceiling. All the other 7 handyman projects around the house have not even been touched. Our kitchen is still not painted, kitchen ceiling completely unfinished, kitchen modeling completely unfinished, kitchen quarter round completely unfinished, window trim completely unfinished, patchwork in office completely unfinished, patchwork in bedroom completely unfinished, outside gate completely unfinished, our wood built-in that needed to be resurfaced hasnt been touched, rooms have been unpainted.

As you can see by the pictures Nanette took her money and ran. Nanette Agulto and Mr. Handyman scammed us out of $5,000!

Once Derrick had left for the day my wife started to receive harassing calls by Nanette demanding to be paid for the work; over the course of 2 days she received more than 10 calls from Nanette. Frustrated and not wanting to create a conflict my wife paid her while I was at work because she felt intimidated by Nanettes incessant calling. When I found out that Nanette received the entire $5,000 AND CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD FOR $2,500 WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION for the unfinished work, I was shocked.

We asked for justification on why she collected $5,000 AND charged my credit for more than the entire amount of the original bid, and her comment was if you want the remaining project done it will be $3,500 more Below is her email stating what the additional cost would be to finish the project.


This whole process has been extremely nerve racking with Nanette since the beginning. For her, it isnt about finishing your project it is all about her getting paid, getting her money and moving on to the next project.

DONT GET SCAMMED LIKE I DID.

We have asked politely for a refund and we stated our reasoning objectively, and as you can see in her email she is threatening to sue me If I voice my opinion online!!! Nenette has threatened to sue me? Unbelievable! For what, telling the truth?!!

You can see by the pictures that they collected their money and split. There are plenty of other honest handyman and it is too bad people like Nanette have to spoil it for them. Getting scammed by one Mr. Handyman can ruin it for all the rest.

This lady has come unhinged. Do you really want a lady like this or anyone she hires into your house? Below are the pictures of the incomplete work, they speak for themselves.

Below is an email that I received from Nenette stating all the projects that still need to be completed; these projects were included in the original bid for $4,900. All of them have yet to be completely and yet we paid $5,000.

2.) Hang drywall in bathroom and tape

3.) Remove toilet and install hardi backer board to floor

4.) Install client provided stone 12"x12" tiles

5.) Grout same tile

6.) Reinstall toilet

7.) Install vanity and faucet

8.) Install vanity mirror

9.) Second coat drywall in kitchen

10.) Install 1\4 round trim at kitchen cabinets

11.) Install door skin at dining room hutch area

12.) Attach trim at window at side yard

13.) Paint walls at kitchen dining area


The original bid was $4,900.
KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY DID NOT COMPLETE!

YET I WAS STILL CHARGED $5,000 and Nenette is demanding to complete the job it would cost ANOTHER $3,076.00!!!!
DONT GET SCAMMED BY NENETTE AGULTO, DERRICK AND MR. HANDYMAN. THEY SEEM NICE AND CORRDIAL IN THE BEGINNING IS IF THEY ARE FRIENDS BUT WHEN THEY DONT GET WHAT THEY WANT THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!
