They collect for Capitol One. Capitol one had the wrong address for our billing so it went into collection because my mother thought my brother was getting the bill and visa-versa. Capitol One had the wrong address and never called anyone to confirma nd sent us into collection. Well, we decided to pay it off at half the rate through MRS in order to get a mortgage approval.
MRS told me that if I sent a Cashiers Check by noon the next morning via Fedex that they would send me a release letter by 4 PM when I had my appt. Otherwise we were just going to send a check in regular mail. They received the letter at 11AM confirmed by Fedex. They are now telling me I have to wait for this letter and hung up on me when I told them that they had verbally promised me upon receipt of the Fedex and the Cashiers check for $5,000.00 that they would immediatley send me a fax that I could take to my mortgage broker. They have sent nothing and may not for a few days.
Who can I contact about collection agencies lying to get money sent to them? I sent them a confirmation of what they verbally told me via e-mail the day they sent it and they never said that the letter was untrue. So I have proof. This is MRS Associates in NJ. They lie. record everything they tell you with a handheld recorder before you send them any money.

KING SIZED dumpster trash
AUTHOR: Terry - (U.S.A.)

These collectors give ALL debt collectors a bad reputation. There is no lie they will not tell, everyone they talk to is about to:
A) be arrested b) Have their wages garnished c) have a judgment levied against them d) all of the above.
The players:
Saul A. Freedman, Pres & CEO
Jeff Freedman, VP & Partner
Daniel J. McCusker, Attorney
Michael A. Peters, EVP-CMO
Kelli Coia, Dir of Training/Development
Jill Sittineri, Incentives Mgr.
MRS is infested with KING SIZED dumpster trash that belongs in a jail cell. NOTHING they say or do is to be believed or trusted. My guess is they are all orphans because at some point, they all sold their mother's for cash! Stay FAR away from these misfits of society, they are as BAD as debt collectors can be!!

David regarding your post
MRS Associates will threaten you with all types of misrepresentations and intimidations to try and induce payment from you.
I doubt you've had any dealings with MRS, so how can you assert that MRS WILL threaten you? Are you saying they threaten EVERYONE? By saying THEY WILL it means "guaranteed". You are opening YOURSELF up to a lawsuit.
------------------
Regarding
Do not pay abusive debt collectors. You don't owe them a dime, and you have no business relationship with them.
Actually....YOU DO! When Capital One authorizes MRS to collect the debt, then the customer "debtor" DOES have a relationship with MRS.
You are sincerely stupid David.
Regarding the origional post
PAY YOUR BILLS TO YOUR CREDITOR AND YOU WON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH COLLECTION AGENCIES!
I don't for a miniute believe the
Capitol one had the wrong address for our billing so it went into collection because my mother thought my brother was getting the bill and visa-versa.
OH PPPPUUUUUHHHHLLLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE!
Capitol One had the wrong address (whos fault is that? Capital One will send mail to the address you gave them when you signed with them)
and never called anyone to confirm and sent us into collection.
SO CAPITAL ONE IS SUPPOSED TO CALL 1,000,000 CUSTOMERS EVERY MONTH TO UPDATE THEIR FILE?
When you made your last payment I'm sure you knew you were going to move. Did you tell Capital One>
Or did you skip town to avoid paying the rent on the trailer!

MRS Associates Another Fraudent Debt Collector
AUTHOR: David Cyrus - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, August 19, 2004
All debt collectors are required under Section 609(b) of the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to validate any debt before it can commence collection activity.
MRS Associates is a typical debt collector that engages in unfair, deceptive, abusive, fraudulent, and unlawful collection activities against consumers.
I recommend you file formal complaints with:
The Senators in your State.
Your Congressman.
Federal Trade Commission
Office of the Attorney General--State of New Jersey
Local Department of Consumer Affairs
MRS Associates will threaten you with all types of misrepresentations and intimidations to try and induce payment from you.
They have a website where you can do some research on their operations. There is good information on them on a website put out by Bud Hibbs.
You should have no problem filing any of your complaints online, using a copy and paste method. It is very easy to do. Addresses are available to you if your prefer to send in an old fashioned letter.
Do not pay abusive debt collectors. You don't owe them a dime, and you have no business relationship with them.
It is always best to settle you alleged debt claims with the original Creditor, if that is something you wish to pursue. You have the authority to decide who you pay and if claims against you are legitimate.
These debt collectors are predators, and they will take no prisoners in bleeding you dry of your hard earned wages and assets.
Hope any of this information helps you deal with this problem.
Sincerely,
David Cyrus Koupai

You can't believe anything these scum-based predators tell you.

The person who is telling you "Oh, YES, Randy, we'll get you exactly what you need, when you need it!" is interested in one thing and one thing only -- the commission they earn on your payment.
Although a "nice" lender/broker would have asked for evidence of the Cashier's Check and a written statement by you and went ahead and moved the process forward based on those two things.
