I was balancing my check book and discovered an unauthorized charge of $14.95 which had been deducted from my account. I immediately called the number listed next to the transaction and the name was MWI*Homeworks Plus (888-681-7216).

I called the number and got a rep. I told her I did not order this product nor did I know anything about it. She told me that it was included with my order for the Total Trolley and came with a $50 savings bond and that it also came with a thirty day trial.

Well, of course, the thirty day trial expired since I was not aware of its existence. She told me she would send me a package to (which I did not receive) for another 30 days. I was again charge the $14.95 plus I charged another $14.59 for MWI Simple Escapes (877-836-6903) in my next bank statement to which made me very upset. I immediately contacted both places.

The rep at Homeworks Plus stated that I ordered the product to which I stated I did not. We went around in circles until I asked to speak with the supervisor. Well, I was put on hold for about 20 minutes. The rep kept coming on the line saying that the supervisor was still busy. I told her I would wait to speak with her no matter how long it took and I did because I wanted to get this issue resolved.

Finally, the supervisor came on the line. I told her that first, Even if I did not call them within the 30 day trial period, they cannot charge my personal bank account when I did not give them the authorization to do so and they cannot produce any record that I gave them authorization to do so. The superisor, Willona, ID # 4464 said that I would get my refund of $29.90 within the next two business days and the service (again, to which I never wanted or ordered in the first place) would be canceled.

While I was speaking with Homeworks plus rep, I asked them about Simple Escapes, I was told that they were not handling any issues for them to contact them directly and I did. I called Simple Escapes and requested a refund for $14.95. I told them the exact same thing as Homeworks Plus, I did not order their products nor did I speak with anyone about ordering their product and I certainly did not give them authorization to deduct monies from my bank account. To which the rep (Csinshe, ID# 25139) stated (again) that they got the information from Total Trolley. Csinche told me I would get my refund within two business days and the service would be canceled.

After talking with both companies (who I now know are the same companies), I contacted Total Trolley's customer service. I explained what had happened and the rep there said that they do not give out my pesonal information to other companies and proceeded to direct me to another 800 # (800-516-8866, National Teleservices, Co.) to clarify how MWI alias Homeworks Plus and Simple Escapes got my information.

I contacted National Teleservices and was told that they do not retain any information they receive. The rep stated that once they receive the order from the customer, all the information is transferred to the company who is providing the product. The rep re-directed me to the Total Trolley customer service # (800-977-4022). I called the Total Trolley customer service again and spoke with another rep. The rep stated that they do not sell any customer information to any company because that would be against the law and they would get into serious trouble.

I don't know if this company did or did not sell my informaiton to this MWI company(ies) but it does appear that they did. But the rep said she would delete my number. I aske what number are you deleting, my account number, my phone number? She said she is deleting my phone number. I asked how would that delete all of my information. She indicated that she could not delete my entire recored. She would have to give the information over to her supervisor. I told her I would wait on the line for this to happen. She,in turn, told me that the supervisor was buys but she would put the request on the supervisor's desk to be deleted.

I now must make a follow-up call to Total Trolley to ensure that all my information has been deleted out of their system. Obviously, I don't have any desire to be one of their customers.

I hope that there are enough complaints about this company MWI alias, Homeworks Plus / Simple Escapes and I hope that Total Trolley is also investigated to ensure they are not selling personal information they obtain to other companies.

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish you file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 # , and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/comptroller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!
