MWI Homeworks Plus ripoff-fraudulent charges to credit card Nationwide

I have been charged $139.99 by this company on my credit card. I do not know who they are, how they got my credit card number, or even what service they provide. I was only made aware of this problem when I attempted to make a purchase and my card was refused by the merchant!

I called my credit card company, and was advised of this charge and given a telephone number. I was also told that this was some sort of membership service, and that even changing my account number would not protect me from future charges, as they would simply follow my account.

I have attempted to call the company, and did end up reaching a woman who kept telling me to stand by, her computer was slow, and after repeating this several times, the line went dead. I have not been able to reach anyone again.

I have been reading other reports on this site, and now believe my information was given to this company by Popeil, from whom I had ordered some knives, and who I now hold partially responsible. I do now recall them making several offers to me, magazine subscriptions, etc., all of which I REFUSED, however, it seems they did not take that position, and I was in fact enrolled in this "club." But I never did receive any information packet from this company, information on how to cancel, or even the free gift card I recall they mentioned!

I am cutting my losses and cancelling my credit card before they hit me again. My next stop will be the Washington State Attorney General.
