MX Energy approached me at my house a year ago showing me how I could save money in gas over South Jersey Gas, saying that in the long run therms cost less for overall savings. That never happened all of last winter season, paid quite a bit more.

This past summer they sent a rep wearing an MX Energy shirt saying they're offering to lower the rate even more. This was when I was about to cancel them because of last season. He told me that the new rate will beat SJGas right away and that I could confirm that with SJGas. I did, and if what he was telling me was correct, savings would presumably show up right away this season.

My Dec bill was comparable to last Dec, I called MXEnergy asking why it hadn't been lowered, and told them about the guy who came over. They knew of no such promotion and said the rates are the same. I complained heavily about this, they asked if I knew the guy's name which I didn't.

I immediately told them I was canceling with them. They told me it would take a couple billing periods before the cancellation would show up on the bill, sounds like I'll be paying their higher rates through most of the winter before I see any change.

They told me I'll be sent a letter with a cancellation charge, I believe that's$150. Letting you know that I don't plan to pay it, that's a form of getting me coming and going

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with MXenergy. While I don't know the specifics of your account, a change in your rate would have been followed up by written correspondence as required by the New Jersey Public Service Commission.

When comparing this December to last December please remember that this is one of the coldest winters we have seen in twenty years. Even at a lower rate per therm, there is a possibility that your overall bill could be higher due to the extra work your system is doing to keep you warm.

MXenergy appreciates the feedback and we always want to hear from our customers. Please call anytime 800.784.4373 or email customercare@mxenergy.com.
