This is one of the newest and most creative blackmail websites that we have seen. This is modern day internet extortion at its finest. The website www.MyCallerData.com purports to be a reverse telephone number search website. And in fact, it does contain the majority of active telephone numbers in the world in its huge database, both personal cell phones and personal and business landlines. But the numbers are not there in the database because of legitimate reasons, i.e. they were not actually put there by legitimate concerned consumers. The website actually uses website bots and computer algorithims to constantly spin and write fake "Replies" (i.e. reviews or critical comments) about each number posted. Here is how the scam works - Google your number, or basically any number, and it will probably pop up in the Google organic seach results and refer you to the website. Or, go to the website URL and just type in your number on the upper right section of the "About Us" page, or look for a friend's number, or a family member's number, etc. Give it a try. Most telephone numbers are in there, and most numbers have a number of completely fraudulent critical user comments about them, stuff like "This number keeps sending me lewd posts," or "This number calls from all hours of the day and hangs up," or "This is a scam, they keep calling me trying to rip me off," or "He keeps calling and threatening me," or "Called today and pretended to be the IRS, tried to scam money," etc. Obviously, nobody wants to have such nonsense associated with their phone numbers because people routinely Google phone numbers these days. To get rid of the terrible false and fraudulent comments about your number, you have to sign up for the website's "service" and then pay them to delete the fake comments. This is internet extortion at its best. I have reported the site and its owner in the Philippines to INTERPOL, and a file has been opened. I will follow up here when I know more, but for now, take a look at the website and you be the Judge.
