I was contactedd by a collection agency called 1st Credit out of Chicago, IL. They said that I owe MyPerfectCredit.com $186.00 but couldn't or more like wouldn't tell me anything about the charge or why I owed this amount of money.

All they would say was pay up or we would report you to collections and that it would put a negative mark on my credit. I told Ms. Guice that this couldn't possibly be true because I pay all of my bills and that I never let anything go unpaid.

It looks as if this company is only targeting those with very possitive and favorable credit scores because anyone with negative credit would never have anything really to lose. At this point I am not sure how to handle the situation or who to turn to.

One thing is for sure I am not paying this Shister of a company one red cent. They will have to sue me first and if this is the case they will need to take me to court and show proof of services provided and proper billing and receits.

The very strange thing about all of this is I was never billed for credit score or credit report information obtained. I cancelled what I thought was a credit monitoring service within the 5 day opt out period. Now some 60 days later they tell me I owe them $186.00 How does this happen.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Ripoff by MyPerfectCredit.com

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 14, 2005

Almost the same exact thing happened to me with MyPerfectCredit, only I received a nasty email from them telling me that they had attempted to debit a payment from my bank account but it came back as NSF and that they would attempt to run the payment again in 2 weeks. I was rather upset because I too had opted out of the credit monitoring service within the 5 day period. I called in and asked them what the charge was for when I had opted out of everything. They claimed to have disputed negative marks on my credit on my behalf. I told them I never authorized them to do anything on my behalf because I opted out of everything. They told me the "opt-out" was only good for 30 or 60 days (I can't remember which one) and after that since I didn't opt out again, they automatically started disputing all negatives on my credit report. I asked them to send me the contract (which they did) and reviewed it. No where in the contract did it say that you must opt out again every 30 or 60 days. It just said you had to opt out once. After several conversations and them still refusing to cancel my service and stop the charge on my account, I finally got a little nasty with them and told the supervisor I was talking to, to tell me where in the contract did it say I had to re-opt out every 30 or 60 days. Of course, he couldn't tell me because it didn't say it and they cancelled my service and stopped the charge from going through my account.
