I bought the above unit online from Ebay after asking the seller (Malik) about the condition and age of the item. He responded that it was only used as a showroom model and was new, and had no defects at all. Since the price wasn't spectacular the fact that he listed it with free shipping made it more attractive, so I went ahead and bought the unit.
A 10 ton Portapower weighs 80lbs, yet somehow he managed to get UPS to ship it listing it at 35 lbs. When it arrived at my door the unit was squeezed into a cardbord box which offered very little protection, and the case was broken in several places. The portapower looked worse (It definitely wasn't new) than the one I was replacing so I contacted UPS and sent it back.
After 2 months of waiting, he finally gave me a partial refund ($118.04) deducting shipping and handling ($81.45) even though the auction was for free shipping. Also on the listing, it was stated that if the unit was returned within 3 days, the shipping would be assumed by NandA tools. Well guess what? I guess they don't read their own listing! If he was insured as he claims and he will get refunded by UPS, (UPS claims they didn't charge him for me to return the damaged goods) then he is just taking my money as a profit. He claims UPS never delivered the portapower back to him but when you track the package, it was signed by Malik on 11/17/2008. So now he has the portapower, and the balance of my money!
If this is the way a company does its business, then I hope at least I might save someone else from getting ripped off the way I did. I have all the proof of what happened in the Emails I got from both UPS and Malik if anyone wants to challenge this. Stay away from this business!!!
