This is usually not something we talk about here, but felt it might help some fellow musicians in the long run. On Sunday we were sent an email claiming that a fan of ours in Australia couldnt find our music on his favorite site, http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Lm51bWJlcm9uZW11c2ljLmNvbQ== and would be excited if we were on the site so he could spread the word about our music.  As we try to do in most cases, we went a head and placed our music on the site, posted our my space URL created a logo for the site etc.  It wasnt hours later that we started to receive numerous emails, of fans joining up.  So far so good.  Then we begun to receive with those emails, emails from folks from around the world claiming everything that an independent musician could hope to see in an email;

By Tuesday we were the top charting world band on the site and getting over 500 plays a day.

At this no point we began to research the site and found that if we wanted to keep up this stairway to stardom, that we would have to start paying a monthly charge after our free 30 day trial.  Still at this point it seemed very tempting to jump on.  We had never seen this much activity, fan gathering and plays.  As musicians its our dream to hit levels like this and we all believe that some day this could happen. It is all about dreaming.

Additional research on numerous blogs from around the world dating back as far as 2006 showed numerous musicians had been involved and lost money (it used to be the first six months for 35 dollars).  In addition many had pasted their emails they received which were identical in there wording to ours.  At this pont it really seemed to us that we were probably involved in a questionable site.

We then received this email:

Defiantly evidence of computerized emailing demonstrating our belief.  The end point here is if youre a musician please dont get caught up in on this web site.  Surely dont use your hard earned money on this type of marketing.  As independent musicians we all have a short supply of money to put out in to marketing as well as time to spend on it.  And pass this on to anyone you know.
