Around 1 year ago I purchased over the phone a bunch of magazines and gave the company my debit card number so they could take their payments directly out of my checking account. My bank had been bought out by another bank about 6 months ago so my account number changed. All the while Nadine Media was still taking their payments from my account.
Then around a week ago (7/14 or 7/15/04) I received a call from them so they could update the information on my account with them. I had told them that my bank name had changed and that they could use the same account number. I didn't see what the problem would be as they had been getting their payments all along with the old account number. Now they called back (this was two days ago 7/20/04) and my daughter, she's only 10 years old, had answered the phone. They asked for me and she asked if she could take a message. I work full time and attend school four nights a week and I am very pressed for time, so my daughter knows that if someone is to call for me she is to tell them that I am unavailable and take a message.
Well this guy (James is his name) started arguing with my daughter telling her, INSISTING that she was me. I heard her yell "I AM NOT, this is her daughter." I took the phone from her and told him that I was heading out the door and he would have to call back at a better time. He told NO and that I purposely lied to him about my account and that I had to take care of this matter right away, NOW,was his actual words. I told him again that I had to be somewhere and that I could not be late and that he would have to call me back.
He would not cooperate so I told him that I wanted to cancel my subscription and then he told me " That my subscription was Not subject to cancellation" I then started to get heated as this guy was very rude, I said , So you make people buy magazines they don't even want? What the hell kind of company are you? You may as well cancel me because I WILL NOT send or give you another dime.
He then told me "Oh Yes we will get our money we will bill and take the whole amount out of your account. This would be in the amount of $1,200." He then says "Instead of arguing with me why don't we just take care of this?" Now I a m running late and I am so frustrated I hang up on this A%^^^(*^hole. So that same day I call my bank and try to put a stop to their withdrawals. It was a long process and it cost me $27. I hope that it works.
