Back in July of 2012 I advertised for a roommate at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, because I thought I might find a reliable and honest person there.  This was my first experience living with an Afro-American woman.  She was very nice at the beginning, but then started taking advantage of my kindness.  She was always late paying her rent, and I had a difficult time keeping track of what she paid.  She'd give me small amounts of money throughout the month towards the rent.  The rent started out at $350 a month, but byFebruary 2013, I decided to lower it to $300 a month.  She still could not pay me the full amount when it was due.  When she began writing her book entitled, "I am a Leader for a Great Tomorrow," she began spending a lot of time on my computer and using my printer a lot.  Had to replace the ink often.  Also, she could not pay me what she owed for the rent.  To make a long story short, she ended up owing me $1800 for the rent, not to mention all the food and paper goods she used up at my expense.  I wanted her to move out because I was getting married in November 2014. In July 2014, She found an apartment in Tempe, AZ, but did not have any money, but her book had just been published, and she was waiting to receive money for it.  She promised that she would pay me the $1500 that I loaned her as soon as she got the money.  She said that she would be getting a large amount of money in advance for the book being published by Kal-Ba Publishing Company.  Evidently, she got paid for the book, probably not as much as she thought she was going to be getting, but I never saw a penny of it.  All together she owes me $3,300 in addition to the emotional suffering that goes with losing so much money.  I am 71 years old, getting a small amount of social security, and can only work part-time at minimum wage.  It's going to take me years to pay this debt off.  I wish Towanda would practice what she preaches in her book!
