Recently bought a new car and bought all of my tune up needs at Napa becuase they have a reputation for quality. Having torn my car apart I discovered that they had given me an alternator belt that was too short. I know they do commercial deliveries and have 6 or 7 trucks running all over theis small town.
I explained the situation to Larry and asked that while his guys were out that they drop me off a belt. I dont' think this was an unreasonable request since it was their mistake that left me stranded. Lary was not at all helpful and just kept repeating the mantra that he doesn't deliver to residential address's.
NAPA needs to train these losers in customer service. Larry's myopic decision to maybe spent $10 correcting a mistake they made will probably cost the company several thousands of dollars from losing my business not to mention the business of those that I influence not to use NAPA for their auto parts.

There are very many reasons not to deliver to residential areas. Safety to the employee comes first. Any thing can happen. I support the decision to stick to common sense safety rules.

It is 100% against company policy to deliver to a residential address.
People make mistakes everyday and im sorry you had one at a NAPA store.

First of all i'd like to say that I work for a garage that uses nothing but Napa parts because of the quality and great service they provide. As for the belt being too short, most vehicles have several listings for belts due to many different accesories on each vehicle, A/c, power steering, Ect. As far as you being stranded, I can't see how, you had the old belt you could have ut back on, hey it's only a belt, its not like installing a new motor, it would have only taken a few extra minutes to put it back on. As for them not delivering the correct belt to your house, you answered that your self, they have commercial delivery, not residencial. Due to insurance regulations by some corperations and by insurance companies, they may not be able to deliver residencially to to liability. You claim you won't do business with Napa again, well my advise to you is to use Auto Zone or Advance Auto. These people know nothing about everything associated with your vehicle. Most employees there only know what the computer tells them and both of these companies have poor computer systems. The computer does not always ask the right questions that make a diffenece. For example, aske them for a E-Brake cable for a 82 chevy s-10. They will only have one listing for each of the 3 cables needed, but they will not ask you if it is a short box, long box, or crew cab. However, ask Napa, and they will ask the right questions. All I have to say is that everyone makes mistakes and don't let one minor problem leave a bad taste in you mouth, everyone deserves a second chance and it they blow that one, then right them off.
