21 year old son has many issues and started using drugs. Parents talk about looking for place to take care of his emotional psychological issues, as well as drug problem. Narconon kept coming up as the number one place with all the answers to deal with son's problems.
Son tried counseling in hometown but did not continue. Now parents knew there was a place that promised professionals and doctors would take care of son's issues. Intervention was set up, which did not go well, but son finally ended up at rehab. center.
Detox only lasted one day because son was told he did not have enough drugs in him. My husband received a phone call from son telling him this place was a joke. He said person testing him laughed and asked him why he was there if he only did pot. Son called home to say this but we did not believe him so told him to just do whatever they said.
Everyday we received calls in middle of early morning hours. Son had to wait until everybody was asleep so he could run to outside payphone to call home. His calling card was taken away and he was forced to sit for hours in class reading books on Scientology by L. Ron Hubbard. We did not believe him and told him to just continue treatment. He was screaming telling dad to look online and search for Narconon scam. After hours on the phone, my husband and I finally researched and were in total shock to say the least. Where had we sent our son? We spent hours reading on two separate laptops until the sun came up. We were so distraught. We read how Scientology was banned from Germany and some other countries. There were horrible stories of what these people are capable of. The more we searched, the more horrific information we found.
Since intervention led to other problems, we could not just take son out of center. We figured he might get some help from the psychological counseling, and life skills training. Everyday we read more terrible news about these narconon centers, and continued hearing from son. He was asking to please be transferred to a ligitimate rehab center where there were real doctors who could help him with his emotional issues.
We called a center at a local hospital in our hometown and were told he would not be admitted until they did an evaluation on him. Stonehawk never asked for medical records or previous history. They simply asked for $15,000 upfront and told us to send him in ASAP.
We realized we were not the only ones who were fooled by these con artists. There are many other parents who were promised the same we were told.
Everything was just wrong. The facility is no country club setting like we were told. We were promised a beautiful relaxing setting with a gym, private room, sauna, nutritional meals. We were assured numerous times that there was professional help and doctors on site 24/7. All of this was false.
The facility was filthy. Furniture was soiled with disgusting stains. Bedrooms were crowded with several students. Windows had tape over them to try and keep out the freezing wind. Spiders and rats crawled all over the place. Son's mattress fell through bed and there it stayed until he left. Bathrooms were full of mold. Nutritious food was frozen food that once cooked stayed out all day. Students mingled with other druggies who discussed how they used crack and other stuff. Son just wanted to be transferred to a real rehab. facility.
The vitamins promised were actually overdose of niacin to cause dementia. This way kids would easily be enforced Scientology. The abuse was constant. Nobody ever talked to our son about dealing with the drug issue or any other issues he had.
It's been almost a year since we sent out son to this creepy place. How is this place allowed to exist in the United States of America. Why hasn't anybody shut this place down. As you research the internet you will see how this cult has scared or killed people in order to shut them up about the truth.
I will not stay quite because if I could save at least one poor soul from going through this living hell, I will!!!
There is so much I did not mention, but I have really tried to put this behind me. Unfortunately, it will take a lifetime for the harm caused to go away.
Our son will never be the same. He has seen the ugliest side of evil in a human form.
May God bless you all and keep you safe.

They are a great company!
AUTHOR: Bethany - (United States of America)

My sister has been in there for a month and she said it is a great facility. She was in detox for about a week, and then was switched over. They go on activities quite a bit. They do campfires, get in the hot tub, go on the lake, and even more. The cost is quite a bit, but if you relapse and call up there, they will come pick you up and take you in again, no extra charge. Great facility. All negative comments are false.

Was actually brought to this sight by a different issue, but once here the painful memory of being here before was all too real.
It has been 4 years since our involvement with this despicable organization, Narcanon. (Or whatever they choose to call themselves these days.
Our family lost a sum of over 30,000.00. (Well over a years worth of wages for myself), but the worst part of it was, that our son, who we were trying so desperately to help was the one hurt them most.
Our story is like that of most of those I have read. He was mentally abused, we were lied to, coerced into believing it was the "right place" for our son. Couldn't be farther from the truth. No, it was not a "resort" type setting. No, they didn't give a crap about your son, or anything but the almighty dollar, and their added bonus of trying to push Scientology onto our non believing son.
I could write a book, (in fact my son has thought about it) about the disgusting stories about this totally corrupt organization. I do not have the time or the effort, but want to do my part in bringing this SCAM that claims to be a legitimate Rehab Facility down.
It has been so painful, that I have tried to put it out of my mind. I can't let other innocent victims choose this place over other Rehabs that might actually help! Please contact me if you want to talk. moondancetile@gmail. I want to help.
Thanks to Narcanon (we actually convinced our poor son to go there twice!!), our son is now against all forms of Rehab, and he is struggling on his own to stay clean. This RIPOFF group has done far more damage that good.
PLEASE, don't fall for their phony lies and sales pitches. They will act all concerned, call you by your first name, tell you that your loved one will DIE if you don't get them help. They will arrange for an intervention (another scam) that will prove to humiliate your loved one and tear your heart apart...all the while leading you to believe that you are doing the best thing for your loved one.
DON"T do it. Unfortunately we did not do enough research, and were in a very delicate and vulnerable place. EXACTLY what they want, and what they feed on. It is truly sickening.
My heart goes out to all of you looking for a safe place for your sons or daughters to get better. Believe me, Narcanon is NOT the place!!

Anyone writing defensively for "A Forever Recovery" is a dupe. If Holly still works there I'm pointing the finger straight at her. If that place has ever helped anyone it's only because of the "blind hog finds an acorn" theory. It's a pig pen and it's run by people that are far worse than the ones that they are supposedly treating. Get the word out. Close it down.

For those frustrated by NarCONon Stone Hawk..
It is now being sued by the ex-wife (Kate) of the owner, Per Wikstrom. Read about the legal charges here:

You may see this page for all the details regarding the operations of Stone Hawk/Forever Recovery:

If getting your money back from Stone Hawk is your thing, please go here, where there is detailed information:
(((Redacted)))
The entire page is an eye opening read.
As for the name change, it's just that.... A name change. Per is a Scientologist, and as such, his life must adhere to the dictates and policies of L. Ron Hubbard. He will apply the LRH "Admin Tech" to any business he runs. He will apply "doubt formulas" to any perplexing issues. Therefore it will always "have something to do with Scientology", despite the bleatings of the shills sent to defend the reputation of their beloved LRH.
The tune may change, but the song remains the same.
Be informed, get the facts.
Scientology is a disgusting cult.

You are correct "Betrayed". Same con game.

Same owner.
Per Wickstrom.
I do not know if as "Forever Recovery" they are still legally associated with Narconon, but the money up front, no refunds, lies, manipulation and control are the same.
I do not understand why the MI Attorney General has not addressed this yet.
Based on my reading and research thus far -- it seems like money /contractual complaints and issues at that location have been going on for some time, no matter what name the facility was registered and licensed under. The facility was always under the same private ownership of Mr. Wickstrom.
I just left there last week 8/2009- AMA -after 2 days in the detox shack. And I do mean shack. My friend was duped and sold on this place from advertising etc. I had a home intervention and had no idea where I was going. She is out approx 7500.00 for my two days there because they pressured her to suddenly sign a faxed contract for the full 7 days of detox when they knew I was unhappy and was probably going to leave.
Previously they told her she had 7 days from the time of my arrival to pay and she could pay by check. ( Something she could have cancelled). BUT when they knew I was probably going to leave - they faxed her a contract THAT day and said they needed the full 7 days of detox money up front. $675 per day time 7. ( $4725.00)
PLUS there are additional fees of some sort.
Now, mind you she had already given them a seperate $2000.00 "bed holding" fee before I ever arrived. This too is non-refundable.
( I found out about all this later of course as I had no planning in the intervention , choice of treatment center , nor financial arragements)
After demanding my release based on patient ( and civil) rights. I was given a ride to a motel.
I had to sign an AMA form to get my belongings back.
AMA is a joke. WHAT Doctor? Whose advice? I was seen briefly by an in-town physician who looked in my ears and checked my reflexes the day after I arrived.
Anyway, so I'm in a motel in Battle Creek. MORE money for me and I had to figure out a way back home. ( 9 hour drive by rental car or a few hour ride by plane.)
No one from the facility called to notify my family or friend that I had left treatment until almost 24 hours later. Of course I called them all the minute I was out and my friend drove through the night to come for me.
Like you "Betrayed "- I want to inform others of my particular experience so that they do not fall victim to the misleading sales and contractual snares associated with this facility in Battle Creek, MI under its current ownership.
I hope your son is doing well.

No, I am not posing as an ex-student. I am one! THE FACILITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NARCONON!!! OR SCIENTOLOGY. It's based on moral reconation therapy as well as Self Inventory & Discovery. Dealing with your past issues is 98% of our addiction, the drugs or alcohol are just the cherry on the cake to numb ourselves from feeling anything. Again I am not a member of their staff or marketing team. I am a graduate of the program who encourages anyone with a drug & alcohol problem to attend A Forever Recovery....ONCE AGAIN I AM NOT A STAFF MEMBER!!!
JUST ANOTHER RECOVERING ADDICT WHOSE ADDICTION IS UNDER CONTROL THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE AT A FOREVER RECOVERY!!!!!

Don't be fooled by those few who pretend to be ex-students of Narconon Stone Hawk claiming it is a legitimate drug rehab.
Due to legal issues I do not want to mention any names, but the same person that was running as President of Narconon Stone Hawk, happens to be the same person who is running Forever Recovery.
Nothing these con artists do is for anybody's good except their own.
If you research the internet you will be appauled at the numerous families that have been fooled by these so called professionals. They are only professional criminals, yet I am sure someday somebody will finally stop them. I will not bother answer to any other stupid testimony backing up either one of the mentioned drug rehabs.

NarCONon is a well known Scientology fraud

That's insane. The notoriously criminal Scientology corporation's fake "drug treatment" fraud they call "NarCONon" not only does not work, the freakishly bizarre quack medical frauds the insane kooks use that were dreamed up by their drug-addled conman messiah L. Ron Hubbard can be DEADLY.
Scientology's "NarCONon" fraud uses L. Ron Hubbard's freakish "Purification Rundown" noti0ons which include toxic levels of niacine and insane flying saucer kook reading, all of which is very debilitative and leaves drug and alcohol addicts not only still addicted but something near $20,000 in debt to the criminal enterprise.
(((Redacted)))
Anyone stupid enough to give these insane criminals their money still does not deserve to have Scientology rook and swindle them with their "NarCONon" fraud.
But don't take my work for the criminal enterprise's word for anything. Do your own homework and look at the miracle claims made by the Scientology crooks, then look at what medical doctors and legitimate drug treatment organizations have to say.

I am a 24 year old recovering addict. I received treatment from the facility stated in this report. It is no longer connected to Narconon Or any Scientology based entity. At no point at any time was Scientology forced upon us; or even mentioned for that matter. As for health staff... a registered nurse was on location 24 hours a day, and medical doctor on call as well. The phones, they were inside in the cafeteria, for use between the hours of 6-10 am and 6-11 pm, that way during the day we could focus on what we were there to do....CHANGE OUR LIVES.
You spoke of the facilities being terrible. While I was there they had NICE couches, and I can say this because they had they same exact $2400 couch that I have sitting in the living room of MY apartment. There was no tape on windows, no spiders or rats. If you yourself had been there you would have seen that it was a place for recovery not a vacation site!!!
Ultimatley what I am trying to say is that the place is no longer NARCONON...It is "A Forever Recovery". The counselors and other staff members were very helpful in my recovery and for that I cannot stress enough thanks to those who organized and put together A FOREVER RECOVERY!!!

I mentioned the abuse was constant but did not elaborate. When son started taking Niacin vitamins he developed a rash all over his body. He asked to be seen by a nurse but was told he needed to pay additional money. He said he did not have additional money but had a terrible rash that would itch all over, even in his private parts. He sat most of the day in a hall waiting to be seen but nobody would see him. He called home in wee morning hours screaming that he was going crazy and could not even sleep due to the itching all over. I called next day and told them I knew son had rash and somebody needed to take care of him immediately. After that call they realized son had called home so they gave him some benadryl or something to take care of itch. Mind you no doctor saw him. He was taken care by a so called nurse that did not seem to be too professional at all.
After that incident he was started in the sauna program which means sitting anywhere from 5 to 7 hours straight inside the sauna. Son developed severe migraines but nobody worried about it. He would complain every day and we would call and calls were not answered until we called back. One day son called home to please be picked up and taken to hospital. He sounded like he was going crazy. My husband called and finally son was taken to see a doctor at some other facility. There were never doctors on site. Doctor that saw him ordered him to stop sauna immediately. This is when son called and said he was just hanging around because there was nothing else for him to do there.
Husband called and spoke to Per Wickstrom and told him that since son was ordered not to do sauna, then he expected for psychological counseling/therapy and life skills lessons to begin. That is when Per (President of Stone Hawk) told my husband he needed to come up with another $15,000 in order for treatment to continue.
After that call, son called and said he was confussed because they called him into the ethics office and told him there was not much they could do for him. Son said I think they want me to leave so you have to pay anyway. That is because the contract says that if a patient leaves, there is no refund.
After reading other accounts of other's experience with Narconon at Stone Hawk, as well as other locations, we realize that we are not alone and that this is a monumental problem.
Where is there an attorney for a class action lawsuit? These thieves will not return any money.
