National American University mislead me by telling me all of my classes from Johnson County Community College and University Of Central Missouri transferred over. There was only 4 classes I did not have and needed to take, so I took them. After finishing one semester of work, I was told I could apply to the nursing program June 1st of 2012. So, I did what every desperate student would do and started to prepare the application. I payed 40 dollars to take the teas test on May 1st, set appointments to complete immunizations with the doctor and started to pay 65 dollars for a background check. As you can see applying to the nursing program takes a lot of time and dedication to get started. I even talked to the BSN advisor and was told I could start applying.

On Friday, April 20th I recieved a phone call from one of the learning advisors stating 2 of my classes did not transfer over and I still needed to take 2 another class. Feeling discouraged about the situation I asked why they didn't transfer over. The counselor rushed off the phone and called me back in 20 minutes to tell me the reason why my anatomy and physiology class didn't transfer over was because it was from a junior college and their credit hours for that class is 6 credits instead of 5. This didn't make sense to me that this class didn't transfer over but my microbiology did. i was then told that I needed to take anatomy and physiology 2 and microbiology lab. This means this sets me back another year to apply to the nursing program and pay a bunch of money to retake classes. If I would have known from the beginning that these classes did not transfer over I would have saved myself trouble and went to a different college. Also, the financial aid department told me from the very beginning that I had enough Financial Aid to cover all of my classes.

Before last semester ended and classes were almost done, the financial aid department decided to tell me I did not have enough to pay for my classes. so, I had to work over time just to pay them to make sure I would be able to sign up for my other classes. NAU's financial aid department requires you to divide the bill in half instead of making an easy payment plan of 4 payments. This has caused a lot of stress and I NAU is ripping students off by getting their hopes and dreams up, waiting until you are already in and then misleading you so you have to take their classes.

-Blame the Department of Education...this is THEIR rule...not the college's

-This sounds GREAT!  Most Universities require you to pay upfront....
