If you live in a Suburb 30 years plus then its highly likely the Telstra Pits contain Asbestos . They are being ripped out by contractors who are not experienced or licenced to handle asbestos and none of the strict protocols for handling asbestos are being adhered two.. This then raises a further problem because they are unlicensed they cannot legally dispose of the material so what’s happening to it is it being dumped, buried who knows.. I don't necessarily blame the contractors as they are being screwed by the main contractors. We need a Royal Commission into the obvious Price Gouging by Labors Pet Contractors and to see how much ends up in Labors coffers by way of donation. We are not talking millions here we are talking BILLIONS. In a recent exposed example the pit was ripped out in hundreds of pieces and spread over a vacant block frequented by local children and left for two days.. The matter may have blown away if it wasn't for the fact that the contractor blatantly lied and tried to bluff his way out of it. It was definitely white asbestos . (subsequent tests confirmed it was asbestos) The lying and bluffing went all the way to senior management of Syntheo. They finally agreed to clean up the site, there idea of a clean up was to hand pick up the big visible pieces , obviously you can't breathe in the big pieces its the micro fibres you can't see, released when its broken that kill you …. unfortunately once you have ingested it, it can take years before it raises its ugly head ..
