I used to work at national dealers warranties. the company motto, ''hang up or buy.'' Welcome to the world of the hard sale. the world of not caring about what you are selling. the first thing we were taught in training... how to lie. here is the script of what the employee is supposed to tell you. and how they are supposed to lie.

warranty division, this is --- how may i help you. what is the year and model of your vehicle? may i have the customer id number on the notice we sent you? do you have the vin number handy on you vehicle? and how many miles do you have on your car? [this is the point where they have gathered all the information they need to sell you and when they finally hear your miles they do somthing called a f.o.a.m. , they freak about your miles]. oh my lord you have 20 thousand miles on a 2006?!? thats alot of miles, or you have 90k on a 2000?!?thats alot of miles. they ask if everything is running ok. planning on keeping it awhile? what kind of problems have you had? then the lie really begins. if you still have a car under warranty they put you on hold to see what warranty they want to pitch to you.

if you dont have coverage they will say well you are past our 90k mile cutoff for coverage since you are at 92k or you our past our 50k mile cutoff for coverage since you have 54k. it doesnt matter. they make a cutoff point up. but since your car is running ok they say they will go talk to the program director. the program director is some other guy that works there who wasnt lucky enough to be on his phone so he has to come act like a supervisor. so he will get on the phone and grill you on some different things. bought new or used any problems? so on and so forth. then he makes up some b.s. excuse to offer you coverage the only problem he tells you is, the computer system is setup to delete any vehicle past the fake cutoff point so you need to tell them by the end of the call yes or no.

then the sales rep will get back on. usually a young male 20-30 yrs old. they will go through the coverage. maybe its bumber to bumber, they say its just like when your car was new. just like doesnt mean exactly so its not a ''lie'' per say. alot of things are not covered that you would think would be. then they have full comp coverage, average cost is 3k. no one hardly ever uses it and when they do the claim usually is not paid. then on vehicles over 100k miles but under 150k they have the powertrain warranties. internally lubricated parts on the engine transmission and drive axel. limits of repair payout is 5k. 3k for engine, 2k for tranny. then the worst thing they can offer is the ''choice'' product warranty. it should retail for around 600. it gets sold for 1993. it is sold most often in california.

california state law doesnt allow the sale of warranties for some reason and the co sell the product so that they can still sell a warranty. kind of like selling a pencil on ebay thats worth 10 cents for 2000 because the pencil come with tickets to game 7 of the world series. its a loophole in the system. the choice warranty is not refundable. people would call in wanting to cancel the warranty and get a refund after six months since they had sold their car and would not get a dime back.

you have 3 days after cancelling any warranty to get all your money back and have 30 days to cancel with a fee of $75 on the choice and $50 on all other warranties.

Trying to cancel a warranty? be prepared to have to yell cuss and say cancel over and over and over. the most effective way to get cancelled is to tell them you will report them to the better business bureau, the attorney general and will be filing a complaint. that will usually get you over to customer service after the sales rep is done trying to sell you on the idea again. then customer service will do the same thing. threaten them again and they will usually tell you the procedure on how to cancel. you see the reason they want to keep your business so bad is because they have a mark up of at least 1300 dollars on all warranties. THEY RIP PEOPLE OFF BY SELLING WARRANTIES THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE PAPER THEY ARE WRITTEN ON! the owners are multi millionaires. they care about nothing but the almight dollar. they knowingly teach people to lie and decieve others all in the name of profit. you think they really care about the old lady that lives on social security who was called randomly [the co is turning into a telemarketing firm. it calls people at random] and sold the choice warranty on a car she cant even drive. i know they dont because i was one of those guys who was told that if i didnt sell her i wasnt doing my job and i would be fired. i recommend checking them out on the better business bureau's website. no shortage of complaints.

the whole company is managed by a bunch of jerks who get off on calling people names and degrading them. the average person who works there is fresh out of college and wasnt able to get a job anywhere else so he decided to work there. he sits in a cubical that is covered in rebuttal sheets. they have an answer for any excuse. hes taught to a.i.o.a. to agree with the customer, isolate the objection, overcome the objection, and ask for the money. here's and example. oh yes sir i understand its a big decision and you need to talk to your wife [agreed and isolated, spouse objection] but, when your vehicle breaks down are you gonna tell them you need to talk to your wife or will you tell them to fix it?[overcame the objection] so all i need to set you up is the 395 down, debit or credit card?

if that doesnt work and they cant get you to buy it after awhile they will set you up to talk to the ''finance manager''. this could be another co worker again or it could be a manager. someone who knows how to sell people better then the rep does. the ''finance manager'' will come on and take 200 off maybe, 195 down and give 18 months financing. then if that doesnt work he will a.i.o.a. until they hang up. hanging up is usually the best thing to do. these guys talk to people 10 hours a day. they do nothing but sell warranties to anyone and everyone. no one wins an argument with them.

Bottom line is, these warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on. The people who sell them don't care who the sell it to. go to your dealer. they will take care you better then this co or any others out there ever could. i used to work there and i dont have a warranty on any of my cars. and its not because i couldnt afford to.

NeverAGAIN

AUTHOR: Neveragain - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 12, 2008

I have to say....I do agree with LessonLearned. He has hit everything on the nose. As far as the price of the warranties go, you know it's business. Nike makes tennis shoes for $1 and sells them for $110+, so there's a markup on everything. I'm not knocking a company for trying to make a buck. BUT, lying to customers is a different thing. They do take advantage of the elderly and people that really don't understand a thing that's going on. They talk fast and act faster. As far as the atmosphere of this company, well, it's something else. It is in a sense a cult, or group of brainwashed individuals. They have training, more training, and even RE-TRAINING. Sales reps are treated like less than humans.

I can name numerous things that happened to sales reps that I had witnessed.

1. A sales rep that worked there that bought into their crap was having a baby with his girlfriend. Management (The GM Stevie Von d****ebag) told this rep to take a few days. The next morning I heard Von d****ebag call this rep and tell him that if he's not there this morning he'd be fired because they were extremely busy and they didn't care if this rep was up all night at the hospital.

2. If the reps didn't sell or had no "deals" out in the first couple of hours they were forced to stand until they had a "deal" on the "board". One rep was having a run of bad luck and pretty much stood for almost 4 hours straight.

3. If the reps weren't selling at 10 % of the calls in the day then the GM would give people degrading jobs such as: scrubbing toilets, picking up cigarette butts, amongst other things.

4. The Managers and ESPECIALLY the GM would degrade, not behind closed doors, but in front of hundreds of other people, sales reps. They would make fun of people for being obese, they would call people useless, call them "f**kin retards" tell people that they "aren't s**t" and just be completely nasty to people. They would short people on their paychecks, and just are completely ugly. The only reason more sales reps haven't stepped forward is because the job does pay good money, more so than flipping burgers.

All in all the sales reps there are great, the team leaders and managers are usually pretty good to the reps, but the OWNERS and THE GM are the ugliest people of all. I would love to see someone go undercover there and make a video compilation of how they really act and just put it out there on every news station that they can. WATCH OUT PEOPLE.....YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU'RE GOING TO BE CAUGHT and all those fancy cars, big mansions, nice clothes, $12,000 watches, boats, travelling, and nightclubs will be a thing of the past when you get your asses shut down!

All I know is that if they offered me $150,000 annual salary I would tell them thanks, but NEVERAGAIN will I work for you scum!!!

Not True

AUTHOR: Savior - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 04, 2008

I use to work for a warranty company and all the things you are saying is not true. I have warranty on my cars and I do get my repairs, yes there are people who will lie to get a sale because they are on commission but you have 60 days to cancel for a full refund if you have a newer vehicle and 30 days for older vehicles. after the 60days they is a $50 cancellation fee depending on the state you live in plus a % of the amount paid into the contract and the say for the 30days cancellation.
I can guaranteed you got FIRED from your job and this is the reason for your lies.

Thank Lesson learned

AUTHOR: George - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 05, 2008

I can confirm the report from Lesson learned.

I called and talked to three men: the salesman, the supervisor, and the finance manager. My vehicle is currently out of manufacturer's warranty and I was offered the powertrain warranty with an accept over the phone or be deleted from the system option. They did in fact "freak out about my mileage."

The finance manager was the best. He simply wouldn't let go. My rationale for not accepting was that the 5 year warranty cost approximately 1/3 of my vehicle's cost. I would rather sell and/or trade in the vehicle. As mentioned in the prior post, I was told by the finance manager, "How can you take the risk of it breaking down before you sell it?" He effectively called me a liar when I mentioned that I wouldn't have the vehicle long. The finance manager pressed and pressed until I requested deletion from their system and hung up.

No coverage details related to maximums were discussed and it was very shady at best. It was a full court press that is best avoided. Thank you Lesson learned!

They call me EVERYDAY! I finally went Ape $hit on them

AUTHOR: Xhris - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 25, 2008

I get a call from them at least once a day. On my Cell phone of all things! Not only that, when I'm at my office, my co-workers get calls from them around the same time, on there cell phones too! Yesterday I got fed up. And when I got the call, I picked up and pressed 1 like the crappy recording said. Some lady named Regina picked up and ask for the make and model of my car. I took a deep breath and said to myself, "Just play along". So I said "1974 Dodge Dart". She said excuse me? But she said it with a "Dont play with me" attitude. At that point I blew a gasket and I said yes excuse you! because I don't have a Dodge Dart, and if I did why the hell whould I buy an extended warrenty? And if I were dumb enough to buy one, and it was about to expire, YOU SHOULD HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION ABOUT MY CAR on file! Now put somebody on the phone that I can b***h to, because somebody in your company is about to pay my cell phone bill!
She hung up on me. Bottom line, is the people at National Dealer Warranties are SCUM! Worthless bottom dwellers with no lives, morals, ethics, or education. To be blunt, they are Dumb Shits! They prey on the elderly and naive. How many of your worthless warranties did you sell to your own family members? How can they even sleep at night? I would have more respect for them if they were flipping burgers. And that Bob Doog guy needs to get a life. If you want to talk about BALLS, it takes nice size ones to sell salt to a slug!

for alleged 'legit' companies and warranties, they all need to hide their name and use multiple/spoofed phone numbers on caller ID. It must be a pretty lucritive scam. Bunch of scumbags.

I wasn't so wrong, Attorney General Jay Nixon Agrees

AUTHOR: Lesson learned - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 08, 2008

I copy and pasted this article from this url.
http://ago.mo.gov/newsreleases/2008/030608.htm

Obviously it wasnt just me who felt this way, AG Jay Nixon is now taking the fight to the next level.

Attorney General's News Release
March 6, 2008

Nixons Operation Taken For A Ride targets sellers of extended service contracts for vehicles who use high-pressure, misleading tactics Jefferson City, Mo. Attorney General Jay Nixon today took legal action against several businesses, most of them based in the St. Louis area, that used misrepresentation and deception to sell motor vehicle extended service contracts (MVESC) to consumers. Nixon said the coordinated filings of lawsuits and settlements, dubbed Operation Taken For A Ride, involve scores of consumers from across the country who were misled into paying for extended service contracts on their vehicles that, in most cases, they did not need.

Its rather insidious how these companies prey upon consumers fears, sending misleading letters informing them that their current motor vehicle warranties were about to expire, when in fact many of the consumers possessed factory warranties that wouldnt expire for several months, Nixon said. That was the hook to sell these consumers unneeded motor vehicle extended service contracts for hundreds or thousands of dollars. When consumers canceled the contracts, many received only a partial refund or no refund at all.

Nixon says the companies mislead consumers in letters and postcards with boldfaced statements such as Notification of Interruption! and Important Dated Material Enclosed leaving the impression that they are sent from the manufacturers who produced the consumers vehicles or the dealers who sold the vehicles to them. In fact, Nixon said, the defendants fail to inform the consumers that they are not affiliated with the manufacturer, dealer or any local, state or federal government agency, and that the mailings amount to advertisements for the companys MVESC.

Many consumers confused, but not wanting their car warranties to expire went ahead and purchased the new, but in most cases unneeded, service contract the company was hawking, Nixon said.

In one case, an elderly consumer received a postcard stating that her motor vehicle warranty was expired or about to expire in March 2007, even though her actual extended warranty through General Motors wouldnt expire until November 2008. The consumer purchased a new MVESC for $1,898 from the company, and the company refused to issue a refund when it was requested.

Nixon filed one of his lawsuits against that company, Vehicle Services Inc., of St. Peters, in St. Charles County Circuit Court, requesting injunctions, restitution for consumers, penalties and other relief. In addition, the Attorney General filed lawsuits today against the following businesses:

TXEN Partners, which does business as Service Protection Direct of St. Louis; and a related company, United Warranty Solutions, for using misleading notification letters to pressure, confuse and intimidate consumers into purchasing MVESCs they did not need. The defendants failed to disclose coverage requirements to consumers who purchased MVESCs (such as the requirement to use a specific brand of oil to receive reimbursement for repairs); failed to honor contract terms and perform repair on consumers vehicles; and failed to issue refunds to consumers, including one consumer who is owed as much as $3,800. The lawsuit was filed in St. Louis County Circuit Court.
Dealer Warranty Services of St. Charles, for using misleading notification letters to pressure, confuse and intimidate consumers into purchasing MVESCs they did not need. The defendant also misrepresented to consumers the cost of purchasing the MVESCs and debited the bank accounts of several consumers without authorization. The lawsuit was filed in St. Charles County Circuit Court.

Certified Auto Warranty Services Inc., of Lenexa, Kan., which promised a 100 percent Money Back Guarantee to those consumers who purchased and canceled MVESCs, but then issued only partial refunds or no refunds at all. One consumer who paid $1,335 canceled her contract, but has received no refund to date. The lawsuit was filed in Greene County Circuit Court.
National Dealers Warranty Inc., of St. Peters, which sent consumers postcards and letters informing them that they had limited time to purchase renewed, extended warranties for their vehicles. The company neglected to inform consumers that it was not affiliated with the dealers or manufacturers of the vehicle, or that it was actually offering to sell MVESCs instead of warranties. The lawsuit was filed in St. Charles County Circuit Court.

National Auto Warranty Services Inc., of Wentzville, which also sent consumers postcards and letters informing them that their warranties were about to expire, and that it was offering them their final chance to purchase a renewed, extended warranty. The company failed to inform the consumers that it was not affiliated with the dealers or manufacturers of the vehicle, and that it was actually offering to sell MVESCs instead of warranties. In addition, the company violated the Missouri No Call Law by calling Missourians who were on the No Call list, as well as federal telemarketing laws by contacting consumers by phone and failing to honor their requests not to be called. The lawsuit was filed in St. Charles County Circuit Court.

Smart Choice Protection of St. Louis, doing business as Direct Dealer Warranties, which also sent consumers postcards and letters informing them that their warranties were about to expire, and that it was offering the final chance to purchase a renewed, extended warranty. The company failed to inform the consumers that it was not affiliated with the dealers or manufacturers of the vehicle, and that it was actually offering the sell MVESCs instead of warranties. The lawsuit was filed in St. Louis City Circuit Court.

In addition to the lawsuits, the Attorney General filed assurances of voluntary compliance with two companies to settle allegations of misrepresentation in the selling of MVESCs:

Carhill Enterprises, which does business as Consumer Protection Services, of 1232 Washington Avenue in St. Louis, will pay $7,209 restitution to eight consumers and $4,000 to the state to cover the costs of the investigation and enforcement of the case. The company also agreed to injunctive relief which requires them to inform consumers upfront of specific details of their product prior to purchasing. The agreement was filed in St. Louis City Circuit Court;
Warranty Activation Headquarters, of 12244 Tesson Ferry Road in St. Louis, satisfactorily responded to all consumers who complained. The company will pay $5,000 to the state to cover the costs of the investigation and enforcement of the case, which was filed in St. Louis City Circuit Court. The agreement also requires the company to provide full refunds to any consumers who cancel within 30 days.

Nixon encouraged consumers who have complaints about businesses selling motor vehicle extended service contracts to file complaints with his office, by either going online to ago.mo.gov or by calling the Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-392-8222.

I feel I should Explain a Few more things.

AUTHOR: Lesson learned - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 15, 2008

As far as the employees are concerned, the average guy working the phones; 99 percent of them were great guys to work with. My beef isn't with them. They are doing what they have to do to make ends meet, support their families, pay for their ongoing education etc. The problem lies within the Upper Management.

The way the Company is run is appalling. I know who you are Bobby Doogs. I wish you the best. I wish everyone who grinds it out on the phones could do something different as a career choice so they aren't ''treated like 8 yr olds.'', degraded, made to do things that at the end of the day when all is said and done, makes it hard to sleep at night. I battled everyday a fight within myself as to what i was doing what the right thing.

I knew deep down though that, after i had sold that old lady a choice warranty on her kia, that what i was doing was wrong. Thats why I left. They need to find another way to sell warranties then the way they do now. It's dishonest, hurtful, and unethical. The company attemps to brainwash people into believeing that the job is the best there is. That just because you can wear whatever you want into work, you have bigscreen t.v.'s, and they dont drug test you that it's ok to treat their employees like s**t. They believe that just because they make a ton of money they dont have to be ethical in anything that they do.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, smells like a duck, and flies like a duck then its probably a duck. NDW is not any different. The company trains its employees to lie and reinforces that its ok with dollar signs. As long as you are an employee at NDW you are a paid liar. I have empathy for you. It's hard to seem outside the realm of what you do everyday and the impact it has on you. I KNOW that over half the company is looking for jobs elsewhere. I'm sure that the G.S.M. loves to read things like this. I hope Mr Big Perm [first name starts with an S and ends in tevie] reads this more then once and it makes his blood pressure rise.

I only wish that he knew how degrading it is to wear a trash bag for a day, with a coconut bra on, and carry a large sign above his head that reads ''I like to waste my managers time, I'm Stupid, I don't know how to sell warranties, My manager is smarter then me.'' for just one day. I have no beef with the Guys on the Phone. And ''some'' of the team leaders arent bad guys either. But my Stance on the Company as a Whole is That I will not stop telling the Truth and hanging the dirty laundry out until things change.

This dude has pretty much got it right on the nose

AUTHOR: Schwabdizzle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 10, 2008

I use to work there as well, and THANK GOD I don't anymore(even though the money was great). I was pointed last night to this website where someone told me about it. I read this article and was CRACKING THE f**k UP cause its so accurate. I do wanna say though some of these policys they do sell pay thier claims others well....they don't. Thier mark up is REDICULOUS. For instance, I have friends that own thier own warranty companys(thats why I got terminated cause of fear and paranoia) and they pay around $350 for a Choice warranty and sell it for $2000 and give around 110 dollars to the employee for the sale. I'm no mathematician, but 2000-350=1650-110=1540. So thats how much money the GREEDY owners put in thier pockets. Not to mention a majority of those policys(including the Choice) have a money back guarentee if the customer doesnt file any claims. They will not let the customer know of this cause thats even more money in the owner's pockets after thier warranty term expires. As far as high pressure sales, they are the best. I can't even begin to tell you how many people I haves sold a policy to that didn't even need it. As far as the employees THIS JOB CONSUMES THEM cause I guess they feel they have no other options as far as a decent job. I feel its like a CULT, the biggest I've seen since the David Corresh era cause they live and breathe NDW. Now, I'm gonna talk about treatment of employees. I have never seen more people treated like s**t in one job ever in my life. Matter of fact, thats why I had to file a lawsuit against this company just so I can get paid. When I got terminated they wern't gonna pay me for a month and a half worth of work. Well, lets just say they made a HUGE mistake....end of story. I enjoyed working there when I did cause they do have some good people that work there, but looking back I'm glad I got fired. Next time you recieve a notice in the mail that says "FINAL NOTICE: YOUR FACTORY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED" you better think twice before you dial that toll free number. Also, if your thinking about getting a job at NDW, well be prepared to be treated like an 8 year old.
