This company insured a ' hole in one contest ' for our societies putting contest during one of our meetings. The putt was almost impossible to make however I seemed to do so. The event was hosted by a golf pro (at the pristine Kiawah Island) which watched over the putting contest making sure no one putted twice, took practice shots, or anything that would comprimise the contest. After the shot was made I was expecting to recieve my prize money, which was 2500 for the putt. That day I recieved nothing; which was not a problem since the hole was insured and I figured they had to file the report and then the check would come.

The next week I found out that alot of paper work was necessary. I had to fill out an 'Official Gift Certificate & Affidavit of Putting Event Winner' form an so did the Pro along with two other individuals at the event having them notarized and signed. This was some leg work since most of the individuals attending the event travel continually and I only see them at these meetings, but I jumped through National Hole in One's hoops and got the formes filled out and sent it out to them.

Upon doing so my claim was denied! They stated that only one person out of the whole group was to take a try at the put. There was about fifty attending this trip and the insurance was for everyone to take one try at this 75 foot downward sloping in two direction putt. When looking at the contract it is written in such a way that each individual is to take one put or only one individual take a putt. The trick for them is in the wording in the contract.

Usually no one makes these putts as our society has not ever had this happen. We have also paid for insurance through this company for quite a few years now and will be sure not to donate any more money to them. When talking to the pro at this event I asked him if this had ever happened to him and he stated it had not. In fact, he said, that even if there is a mistake during the event, that was not clear cut, that the insurance company had paid the client with no questions asked.

He also agreed to help me in any way necessary in my pursuit to claim my prize on this hole. I will be filing a claim against them in court along with contacting magazines and other media chanels so that others do not have to deal with this. It has taken hours of my time and really has made hitting the hole in one not worth the work to get this 'PRIZE'.
