I’m writing on behalf of my parents who are in their 80's. I recently noticed that some filtration system was installed in their home and upon asking my dad, he said some guy installed for the government and that it would be no charge. I thought it was strange but let it go for a month, today I was over dealing with some of his bills and to my shock I saw a charge for $67.79 on their Gas bill. from Nationwide Home Comfort. When I showed my dad he got upset and said, the guy said I don’t have to pay when they installed it and almost broke out into tears. I then find out it’s a 10 year contract? WOW. My parents are in their 80’s and I have started the process to get them into a seniors home, my mother does not speak English and my dad understands about 20% on a good day. He’s hearing is not good neither is his ability to comprehend what is being said. He indicated that the guys just kept coming back to his door (3 times) and kept saying it’s a government program or something to that fact and he understood no charge to homeowner). My parents do not a filtration system nor did my father understand what was being installed, nor the contract, Also they can’t afford this monthly charge. I question the tactics of the door to door individuals that visited my parents. Anyone in their right mind can easily see that these people are not understanding what is being explained to them. I'm waiting to hear back from Nation Wide. I tried calling the contact and I can't even leave a voicemail, so that's not a good sign already.

I want to set the record straight.  I wrote my original post prematurily as I was frustrated on the day I found out that some door to door salesman took advantage of my parents.  I since have spoken to Nationwide Home Comfort and they were very understanding of the entire situation and quickly took steps to rectify the situation, including terminating the people resposible for using their name to mislead my parents.  They cancelled the contract without penalty to my parents and I must say that at first I thought for sure they were going to ask for a large cancellation fee, but this was not the case.  I regret posting my original post out of frustration without first giving Nationwide the chance to rectify the situation.  In the end I must say that I am impressed with their professionalism and the final outcome.
