I signed up for this insurance on Sept 1 '09. Since then I have gone to my dr. a few times with minimal payments and issues. The company pays in full for generic drugs but nominal amounts for name brand drugs. The Delta Dental Ins. coverage provided by this company pays almost nothing for dental visits including routine cleanings. About two weeks ago I took the company to task about the fact that they were attaching my bank account for my premium payment two weeks before my coverage period starts. This morning I received a call from my Dr's office informing me that NBLA was denying coverage for my latest visit due to "pre-existing conditions". My latest visit was for the exact same issues that I have seen my Dr. for in the past so I am very suspicious about the timing of this matter. In addition the Dr.'s office let me know that I should be receiving a letter from NBLA about this situation and that I needed to bring it to the office to have my Dr. fill it out. The Dr.'s office Rep. requested NBLA to send the letter directly to their office given that the Dr. needed to fill it out anyway and NBLA categorically refused. I do believe given the new rulings about medical insurance, NBLA can not legally follow through with this "threat".
I have been dissatisfied with the ability, or lack of ability, to contact this company to speak to a representative. When I called the number on my card I got a recording stating that the office are only open 8-4 EST. I find it interesting that a supposed National Insurance company only has office hours that coincide with EST. When I finally got a call back the rep was very nice but basically uninformed. She told me there were offices in the state of TX that were available 24/7. My question is: why isn't that number conveniently placed on the insurance card???? Additional reseach show this company is supposedly based in Georgia however the card has an address in Fort Washington, Pa and has a 24 hr facility in TX. Who is this company, where are they based, how many different names, addresses and phone numbers are associated with this company? Another website has page after page of complaints about this company's harassing phone calls soliciting enrollment in their program. Does anyone have any information as to what else I can do aside from already reporting them to the NCL, FTC, local BBB and BBB in Georgia as well as my State Attorney General? As much as I dislike the idea is there a lawyer out there willing to take on a class action suit??
