On July 22, 2005 I recieved a letter from NCO Financial Systems demanding payment of $13,657.31 for payment in full on some Chase Providian Card. I do not have a Chase Providian card, nor have I ever had one. I spent half the night checking all my credit reports going back years and this account never showed up.
I called NCO to ask for an explanation and was informed this debt originated in 1991. When I asked why this account never showed up on my credit reports I was told because it was beyond the 7 year limit of reporting.
After checking the internet for information on NCO I found they had several complaints lodged against them and had paid a fine last year for fraudulent collection practices. I also discoverd this web site and read the reports from others who shared this same experience. I was amazed that many people received the same type of letter dated the same day!!!!
I wrote a letter to NCO and I also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
If you find you received the same type of letter and you do not owe the money they are claiming that you owe,
go to www.FTC.gov and file a complaint. Companies like this need to be stopped.
I would like to take whatever action is necessary to put this group out of business. Fortunately I have the internet, and websites such as this exist to help consumers protect themselves from companies like this one.

Start Demanding Credit Freezes
Others responsible for obtaining your information illegally is Zabase. There maybe others out there like them! Zabase may already be shut down. On this website all one had to do is type in your name. This website pulls up unlisted and listed phone numbbers, social security number, date of birth where you work and a plethora of other private information, that you thought was private and confidential.
Yes CitiCorp, Transunion, Equifax,Experian, Washington Mutual Bank is a subsidiary of Citicorp and are among those that lost or sold other people's information and now millions of people are trying to get their lives back and it is not close to being fair. Go to annual credit report and check your records ASAP. You may find what I found and it has been going on for over 8 years now. Stopping me from attending college, obtaining gainful employment, you name it. Whatever you do don't give in and sue the daylights out of them. Don't become angry get even and keep a calm head. Trust me you are going to need it.
Contact Internal Revenue Service criminal complaints and you may even recieve a reward. Their toll free number is 1800-829-0433, The Postal Inspectors, Federal Trade Commission, fbi.gov/submit a tip, the Treasury Department. Demand that your driver's license numbvber be changed, 9 times out of ten they are using that too.
Make sure you pass this information along to others and start demanding credit freezes in Your State! Push for stronger Privacy Laws and flood congress and your State representatives with complaints and your proof.

Go to acainternational.org and file a complaint
they are subject to a $2500 for each violation of law, and trying to collect on a time-barred debt is definitely illegal.
Ask the ACA to make sure that NCO also fully deletes the item from your credit report.
they like to re-age items, making them recent, and therefore more harmful to your credit
good luck

These ruthless people call 20 times a day from
1-416-935-2985 for debts you don't owe. Again it's Providian Financial that lost a lot of Consumer information a few years back in California and are responsible for a lot of Identity Theft.
You may also want to contact Internal Revenue service and file a criminal complaint and the Treasury Department, because it's fraud. Also go to Social Security Administration office of the Inspector General and place a password on you social security number. Start Pushing your Congressmen and State representatives for Credit Freezes that will stop the Identity Thieves obtaining and using your information!
