I haven't heard the NCO lameo phone messages in quite sometime but now I'm getting a weekly recorded phone call message from Hunt & Henriques "Please call our office...800 496-5048" The first messages they were leaving were too garbled to hear the firms name but a quick google reveals who's calling.
The www.hunthenriques.com website provides the following blurb "Our firm represents creditors in situations where the obligations have become seriously delinquent with no resolution pending...."
Well, whoever hired them or sold 'em a debt, yep my obligation is certainly delinquent by about 16 years or so. Nor have I have gotten any written notice from them, guess they just want to chat about stale debts. Interesting how these old debts don't seem to come with good info to contact me as I've lived in the same area for more than 20 years. Nor do they want to spend the $ to really track me down. Their cheapest plan simply depends on my returning a phone call from a mysterious someone I don't know.
Well, I presume that's why they're calling. Who knows, maybe they just want to send me a Christmas card.
Anyway, I have no plans to return their phone call(s) to debate a stale debt.

My Sears (citibank) card evidently had been turned over to this company.
I have online account with Sears and was behind a couple months. In May I paid my minimum payment 1000. online to Sears which was posted. In June I paid the minimum payment 1000.00 to Sears which was posted bringing my balance well under my limit. Hunt and Henrique kept calling and set up a payment plan of 555.00 each month for the nexr 18 months. Which would be over my amount owed.
I told them I was making payments to Sears online. They said I should be paying them. My July minium was 290. and I paid 300. My August Min is $132 and I have paid 140.00. I got a message on Sunday morning 8:03 am to call Hunt and Henrique. ON SUNDAY! I did send a complaint to the BBB and the Attorney General of CA about Hunt and Henrique's

Wow, way to go Hunt & Henriques! After 6 months of the once week robot call you're just not giving up. Well, its just one phone machine calling another one so guess it doesn't take up too much of anyone's time.
Noticed H&H has quite a few court appearances in the Northern Calif area, Shasta Co., mostly on the behalf of Citibank & only a sprinkling of appearances on NCOs behalf. Yea I'm sure the its much better collecting real debts for a real bank than a funky debt pool skimmer like NCO.

1 call a week
AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, January 27, 2008
Oh I read somewhere that calling once a week (every 7 days) isn't considered harassment. And that's what H&H usually does, 1 robot call a week. Just wish they'd change the message, its boring + I'm not ever returning their call(s) anyway. Hopefully the robots programmed to call just so many times, then gives up and finds someone else to annoy.

I didn't look up the case, but maybe H&H has gotten a spankin' before:

Keith, filing an FTC complaint will do absolutely NOTHING for you!
AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, January 11, 2008
Keith,
Those FTC complaints are for statistical purposes only. Nobody actually reads it and acts on your behalf. You MUST get your own justice.
You need to send the CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request as previously spelled out. This is the first step in getting justice.
Send the request by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure that you put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy of that letter with the certified# on it for your records. Do NOT sign the letter, just print.
Now, when they call again, they have violated your LEGAL rights under the FDCPA. Now you can sue them for up to $1000 punitive damages plus court costs, and civil damages for any actual losses.
Don't get mad, GET PAID!!
This is the easiest money you will ever make! And, the satisfaction of getting paid by a bottomfeeder is incredible.

Yep, they call every week - for months now. This week 2x so far. Oh well. Presume they're calling re: my 20 year old debt that NCO used to call me about. Yea even they gave up calling on the presumed debt.
Dear H&H,
I won't be returning your calls. Try another tactic. Perhaps a different phone message with a charming voice.
I did file with the FTC & AG.
Wow, so many posts here now about NCO & debts that don't even exist.
As for folks who are looking for other contact #s, there was a post on here or another site that listed lots of NCO phone #s.

After the 20th+ once a week phone message from Hunt & Henriques (stale debt collector) law firm, I filed a complaint with the FTC this morning.
I want to at least let the FTC know about this law firm just in case other folks are having the same problem(s).

Has anyone else heard from these guys, Hunt & Henriques "Please call our office...800 496-5048"??
Surely I can't be the only one to get these phone messages. Wonder if they've purchased invalid debts from NCO or if they're just another bottom feeder?

H&H thanks for updating your automated phone message & changing the calls to Fridays mornings.
If you're calling on the behalf of nco or on your own, I'm really not sure why you're calling - our states statute's 4 years.

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, December 18, 2007
Perhaps just a coincidence, but after posting here I didn't get my usual Sunday 6pm-ish recorded message call from the law firm, Hunt & Henriques. Yea I'd been getting their call for weeks now. (Maybe they changed their mind on sending me a Christmas card).
Same thing used to happen when I was getting calls from NCO - soon as I posted here I didn't get any more calls - for awhile.
Anyways, happy holidays H&H.

At this time I have no plans for corresponding with the law firm nor NCO, why bother. Amazingly they don't even seem to have my address, guess only junk mailers do. I presume its a waste of their $ & time to track me down since its a 20 year old debt.

#7 Consumer Suggestion
Keith, DO NOT listen to the "legalmadeeasy" jibberish!
AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, December 17, 2007
Keith,
The best advice here is to ignore the uneducated jibberish by this "legalmadeeasy" character! This person is too blind to see that you are both in the same jurisdiction, so this idiot would surely know that the MAX SOL on consumer debt in CA is 4 years.
Therefore, this 20 year old bad debt is without a doubt past SOL. Contacting anyone could only hurt you at this point.
And, garnishments, etc cannot LEGALLY be done unless they first sue you and win, and then seek a judgement. Why do people think that garnishments can be had without being sued first?
Check all three credit bureaus right away and see if they have reported anything. If they have, be sure to sue them for damaging your credit as they certainly DO NOT have "permissible purpose" to access your credit.
I love getting paid by junk debt buyers and lowlife lawyers!
At this point, I would send a CEASE COMMUNICATION request to them by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself, and keep a copy for your records. This is very important. And, DO NOT sign the letter, as your signature could end up on a contract.
Do not give them any information other than your printed name, mailing address and the phone# that you want them to stop calling. That's it.
Now, when they violate, you sue them for the FDCPA violation.
Don't get mad, GET PAID!!

Don't Sit on your hands and assume it will just go away
I understand that this is a stale debt, but do not sit on your hands and assume nothing more than a phone call will come out of it. Thats what a lot of these companies who conduct business in this poor manner count on. There are many avenues they can pursue to collect a valid or even invalid debt if you fail to protect your rights. Establish a paper trail. There are many sites on the Web that will give you Sample's of Dispute Letters to a) the Creditor and b) the major reporting Credit Bureaus that will assist you in quashing any potential attachments etc. Make sure you send letters to the above by Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested. Even companies that claim a debt that is non-existent and/or invalid (such as this company has a horrendous history of doing) can start attaching bank accounts, real property, wage garnishments etc... if you fail to take action to protect your rights. There is a Statue of Limitations on a debt see the laws in your local jurisdiction.

Thanks for your advice Legalmadeeasy, if I ever do get a letter or have a chat with the law firm or NCO - I'll quickly file with the FTC & states AG like so many of us here did with Camco.
Yes, the SOL here in California is 4 years, so not sure why anyone would even bother chasing after paper that's 20 years old or more. It's all been charged off eons ago. I can only assume debt collectors hope to either convince, strong arm or baffle folks into paying.
Anyway, the law firm leaves an automated call every Sunday about 6pm. At first the messages were garbled, I didn't even know who was calling, thought it was just a sales pitch message so I looked their number up. So for all I know, they just want to send me a Christmas card.

Hunt & Henriques is hiring
AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, December 09, 2007
While exploring Hunt & Henriques website noticed they're wanting to hire a skip tracer: "Responsibilities include daily collection calls, payment and settlement negotiation, skip-tracing and asset searching. Applicant must have some prior collection experience and knowledge of the legal process is preferred."
Hopefully they'll hire someone who knows our states Statute of Limitations. Yep H&H its 4 years, not 20.
