I have a 144.00 bill on my credit repord keyed as derogatory by NCO-MEDCLR. I paid this bille with CMRE Financial Services in March of 2006. Somehow in February of 2006 NCO-MEDCLR took over the account and doesn't have a record of me paying the bill. I gave them my confirmation number from CMRE but no luck. Am I going to have to sue these people over 144.00?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Probably not sued

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 07, 2007

From my opinion, you would probably not be sued for $144. That is not worth hiring an attorney for. However, you say that the account was listed with NCO in Feb of 2006, and you paid the other company in March of 2006. Legally, CMRE should be forwarding on any payments made as they moved or sold the account before you made the payment to them. I would recommend disputing the account based on the reason that you already paid it.
