I used this company in 2007 I did NOT like the job that they did on my gutters and never used them again. However in 2008 I received a invoice saying they cleaned my gutters on 6/8/08 and a Mr. (my last name) at my home authorized them to clean my gutters yet in 2008 there was no Mr at my home and I certainly do not sound like a man. This company has been harassing me regarding this bill since 2008. I spoke to the office numerous times and were told they have all their phone conversations voice recorded and that they would email it to me. Still no voice recorded email only invoices. On April 14, 2011 I was contacted by this company yet again and I told them yet again I did not authorize this service and once again I was told I would receive the voice message tomorrow. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and also filed a complaint with Rip Off Report. I feel at this point I must seek legal assistance over a bill that is $107.78 because this company continues to harass me and I refuse to pay for a service that I did not authorize. I used this company once and they were promptly paid even though I did not like the job. I hired another company and have been using them every since. This company is absolutely horrible!

A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau

Studies have shown that the majority of consumers use the internet more so as an outlet for complaints against businesses, than to provide compliments. At Ned Stevens, we take every criticism very seriously and want to fix every problem that may exist. For that reason we have achieved an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau.
However, we cant help any customer who criticizes us anonymously, no matter how much we want to make the customer happy. Furthermore, when criticism is anonymous, we seriously question whether or not the review is from a real customer or from a competitor looking to harm our reputation (several negative reviews, including a police report filed, were proven to be completely fabricated).
Lastly, the negative reviews you see represent an extreme minority, albeit a vocal minority, of our customers. In fact, taking ALL negative reviews which appear about us into account, they represent less than 0.00002% of our customers. That statistic alone is our biggest compliment.
Therefore, if something we have done has upset you, please tell US. I assure you we can arrive at a solution that makes us both happy.
In the meantime, we want to share with you just a few recent reviews we have received from customers who took the time to let us know how happy they were, but were too busy in their lives to log on to websites to let readers know about their experience.
If anyone would like more details about any of these compliments, please contact us at NedCust@NedStevens.com.
We thank you for taking the time to read the following reviews.

If HE gave you HIS name and number then WHY am I getting a bill? I did not authorize you coming to MY home and I did not authorize you to clean. I do not care if you claim to be a reputable company or not. A reputable company that has been in business as long as you state that you have should have enough sense to know you do not do work on people's home and you do not bill a individual without their permission. And YOU KNOW you DID NOT get my permission. I am absolutely fed up with this back and forth bickering. I did not authorize this service I will not pay for this service. However what I will do is seek legal assistance and take you to court for harassing me over this bill that is not mine. I did not authorize it. If you want to bill someone bill someone that did authorize it because it was not me and this harassment is stopping NOW.

We could have very easily listed the name of the man we spoke with - (after all, he GAVE US HIS NAME!!!! and his personal telephone #) in our response to prove that we did speak with him however, out of respect and common decency, we don't operate that way. We prefer to let other readers (if there are any) read through these and see for themselves that companies like ours work hard and there will always be consumers out there that just don't want to pay because they know the "system" is in their favor. If we were such a bad company, if we really didn't care, if we really didn't value our customers - we wouldn't even respond to these types of comments & remarks.

I AM NOW married however I was not at the time the company "claims" they did a cleaning job for me. I find it very convenient how they have told me the past several times I have spoken to them that they would email me a voice copy of the authorization yet now that I file a complaint they only keep them for two years...how convenient. I have not authorized ANYONE to authorize repairs in MY name nor added anyone to ANY of my accounts with ANY of my vendors not even my husband. If they got authorization from someone else then the bill should have went to whomever they spoke with however I seriously doubt the job was done because I am disabled and home all day unless I have a doctor's appointment. It is NOT that I am trying to get out of paying for ANY bill had I authorized it I would have paid it. I have been using the same vendors (with exception of Ned Steven's Gutter Cleaning) since I moved to NY from LA in 2005 and my bills with these vendors well exceed the amount of this "so called bill" they claim I owe. I have not had a problem with any vendor but this company. And if they claim someone authorized a cleaning other than myself then they need to send that person a bill because I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE CLEANING!!!! How can a REPUTABLE company charge someone for a service that THEY did not authorize. IF they called and I was unavailable they should have left a message for me to call them back or called back at a later time. Yet they claim some Mr. Lawless (whom does not exist unless my father in LA which has never been to NY) authorized this cleaning. You DO NOT do service at someone's home without speaking to them directly and you surely DO NOT bill them for a service that THEY PERSONALLY DID NOT AUTHORIZE

Unfortunately, Ms. Jessica Lawless/Steinhauer has listed a number of inaccurate comments. First, she states she was unhappy with our service. Well, in fact Ms. Lawless used our company 3 times prior to the service date in question! Hardly the behavior pattern of someone who does not like a particular service. She claims there was no "Mr." at her home, yet we have 3 different telephone numbers and another male contact name listed in her account (whom it appears is at this time her husband). We do not go "looking" for this information. It is given to us by the customer at the time the service is requested. If we call a person listed on the account and that individual confirms the request for service, what else would she have liked us to do?!?!?!? We tried to explain all of this to Ms. Lawless however, she just doesn't want to pay for a service that was requested by a person whom she listed on her account. We do in fact record all of our calls, however, given the sheer volume of data this created, we are forced (for cost and data security reasons) to purge the data after 2 years. We have been in business a long time. We have won the Angies List Super Service in 2008 and 2010. We have an excellent record with the BBB. We simply don't "make up" service requests and "hope" people will pay the bill. This is simply another case of someone who just feels that they will not be held accountable for a bill that is only around a hundred dollars. Sad, sad, sad....All this does is raise the cost for all the honest people who do pay their bills.
