Nelson & Kennard Attys Attempt to sue us for money owed to Capital One but beyond Statute of Limitations Sacramento California

Kennard law office attempted to sue us for money owed to Capital One that has since been written off.  Kennard (collection agency) buys debt and then goes after debtors that don't respond to their summons and obtains judgements and payment plans automatically). They count on the individual being unaware of legal circumstances which benefits them financially.  Kennard Law Ofc summoned us hoping we would ignore their lawsuit. We did not. We couldn't afford an atty to represent us so spent a few days in the local law library. With the librarians assistance, we found similar court cases, showed up to court whereas Kennard was a no-show. prior to our tral date in front of a judge, we let them know in a trial summary/brief that they were beyond the three year statue of limitations in Virgina where Capital One's headquarters is located. Even though we live in CA, Ca law states that the statute is of where the plaintiff's headquarters is. In this case it is Va because Kennard acts like they are representing Capital One which will get your attention verses a collection agency which is what they are. California's statute of limitations can be 4 years or yields to the lower amount of years which would be Va in this case.

we didnt have to pay an atty to do this. We didn't have to settle any amount of money.
