Nero Inc. inconvenience !! an understatement Glendale California

have contacted Nero 3 times in regard to the Nero 7 I purchased from office depot in pompano beach fl approximates 6 months ago. The laptop I bought with the Vista OS would not allow the previous version to run and I liked the Showtime DVD player that came as a part of the suite. until now I preferred Their software over the others I've used most of which I can obtain at least initially for free. I originally used Nero 6 Showtime when I obtained a DVD drive, and liked it so much I was willing to pay to use it on a new computer despite having software already loaded on my machine. Unfortunately the company is more concerned with copy write protection than customer satisfaction. No doubt the company is unconcerned about me, and believe that the story I will be telling others about It's treatment of this problem will in no way affect Their sales. I'm sure that they are right, yet I remember the software company's of the 80's and early 90's who thought that too. I'd say more about them, but they aren't around, and that says it all.

I sent them an email almost word for word as above and their response was as follows

I read you e-mail and I believe the issue you are having, is quite easy to resolve. This is why I am taking the time to offer my assistance and get Nero 7 Ultra Edition running on you Windows Vista system.

You will need to download the Nero 7 update which works with Vista without any issues. That download is available through our website for free. You download the update and install it without using your disc.

Once you started the installation, during the process you will be asked for your license key, which will activate your Nero program.

I went to the site and no matter which way I attempted to download this the software would not run properly and I continue to be unable to us the software I paid for. they claimed to have reset my code yet it still will not let me use the program. I've been using computers since my first 286 so I'm not new to this but rather then spend any more time trying to get them to honor their obligations, as time is money, id just give up, warn others and move on. my last email as you might imagine was a bit more pointed. it may be wishful thinking but ill try anyway.

your software is crap I am complaining to my state attorney general about your company stealing my money and damaging my system. I've spent way too much time trying to load ShowTime on my laptop and have gained nothing but grief for my trouble. its obvious you cant write software and rather than help your customers you just screw them
