Netfirms - Netfirms.com Domain Transfer Rip Off Buffalo New York
*UPDATE Employee: Netfirms has in no way ripped off this indivudual
* : Netfirms is Sleasy
I moved my domain from NameCheap.com to Netfirms.com but Netfirms did not add 1 year to my domain's expiry date.
I have been trying to get Netfirms to extend my domain's expiry by 1 more year for the past 2 weeks but they have ignored me. They wanted proof that my domain's expiry was 2010 at the time of my transfer to them and I have shown them the support email from NameCheap.com that stated so. However, they still ignore me and they have shut me out.

Netfirms has phone me to "Renew" my domain, this is underhanded, I have never registered a domain with Netfirms. They attempt to blur the fact that you are transferring your domain, not just renewing it.

I would like to take the time to address this persons complaint.
They initiated a registrar transfer of one of their domain names from another registrar, over to Netfirms. When a registrar transfer occurs, the gaining registrar (us in this case) adds one (1) year to the registration of a domain name. This year is required to be added in order for the transfer to take place. As we are now the registrar of the domain, the year was successfully added to the domain making the expiration date 2010 . This means that at the time we received the transfer request, the expiration date was 2009
The domain was transferred TO Netfirms within 7 days of when this registrant states the domain was renewed with its old registrar. Registrars have a certain time frame with the registry in which they can cancel renewals.
The gaining registrar(Netfirms) is not able to remove years from an already registered domain. We simply take the domain as is, and add one year to it in order to complete the transfer.
