A settlement reached between the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and NetSpend, will allow the federal government to issue more than $10 million in refunds to NetSpend customers.  Recent FTC Cases Resulting in Refunds

The FTC enforces consumer protection laws to stop illegal business practices and get refunds to people who lost money. This list includes recent FTC cases that resulted in refunds. If you’d like information about how the FTC’s refund programs work, take a look at the Office of Claims and Refunds Annual Report.

FTC says NetSpend decked consumers with deceptive claims for prepaid debit cards
From the perspective of consumers, the whole purpose of prepaid debit cards – their reason for living, if you will – is to give consumers immediate access to their money. Those cards are an especially important financial lifeline for people who don’t have traditional bank accounts. In pitching its reloadable prepaid cards, NetSpend Corporation promised consumers “immediate access” to their funds with “no holds, no waiting.” But according to an FTC complaint, the defendants’ business practices rendered that claim and other representations deceptive.

I put 31.00 in gas, got home and realized that I was charged 99.00. I returned to store only to be told that it was just a standard credit check. Not to worry I would be refunded. They are full of s---! . I haven't been refunded my money and it's been two months!
