I have been the unfortunate victim of a fraud. I purchased a set of New cookware at a home show in Seabrook NH and it is junk. I was told that I could cook waterless, but it turns out that the extra thick pans... 7 layers, gets too hot for an ordinary stove.

These pans were made for a differant type of range, but the 2 guys at the show said they would work fine with my stove. After I tried to cook the way they told me, I burned my food and now, cannot clean my pans. I called the numbers and all I got was some guys cell phone voice mail.

I called New Era/Pro Health and I was told that those guys do not work for the company, but are indepedant and they buy their pots and pans for re-sale at shows... so, my warranty is with the guys that sold me this junk and now I can't find them. I just want my $1,600. back.

I know that there are good cookware companies out there, so I would suggest that anyone that buys stainless steel pans that they check and see how long the company has been in business... and make sure that they are buying from the company and not a couple of thieves that buy stuff wholesale and then rip off the public.

I am filing a complaint against those guys with the NH Attorney Generals Office and see if they can help me track them down.

Over 20 years and still cookin'

I bought my New Era set of cookware at the Minnesota State Fair over 20 years ago, and I still use them every day.  They were expensive (about $700 back then), but I feel it was one of the best investments in kitchen tools I've ever made, right up there with my Wusthoff knives.  The reason your pan got scorched is because you took the "waterless" marketing a little too literally and turned the heat on too high.  Because the pans have such a good seal you can use less water and lower heat, but you also need to use some common sense.  The salesman who sold me my set never said they were waterless, and I've heard more recent spiels for the same cookware at the fair, and they do not say that.  They merely say that you can use less water and lower heat, which does preserve nutrients better.

My name is Bruce and i used to sell cookware. I represented a few different company's including New Era. They all would have this same problem. You have to learn how to use the cookware. It is different and sometimes difficult as to the stove you use. If your food is burning the tempiture is to high. Sometimes on an electic stove you have to use a trivit between the burner and the pot. You have to find out where the Medium tempiyure is on your stove.

I have used this kind of cookware for over 15 years it is great if you learn how to use it.

New Era Ripoff? Not really a ripoff!

My comments are for: Dennis Laconia, New Hampshire U.S.A.

I am a waterless cookware consumer and have never been connected with the company you complained about.

From your report I detect nothing wrong with your cookware. Most manufacturer warranties cover defects in materials and workmanship only, not improper cooking methods. Any stove can burn food. It takes practice with ANY cookware to get good results.

I've seen the New Era Cookware at the NC State Fair, and it is almost identical to about 200 other brands sold in home parties. ALL that I have seen are great.

I bought a a similar brand in a home party in 1970. At first I burned food too! I was using heat that was too high. DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL. I had to soak the burned on food in soapy water and I used a non-scratch scouring pad made from a SINGLE STRAND OF CURLED STAINLESS STEEL (available in most grocery stores). Then I used either Steel-Glo powder cleanser or an Amway Metal Cleaner to polish things up like new! My 40 year old set looks like new today! Yours can too!

Soon I found out that I could cook with great results on ANY stove. I moved a lot from apartment to apartment and used a variety of electric and gas ranges over the years.

You really have no beef with New Era. Just call back your sales person for some cooking lessons or cooking tips. I bet they'll be happy to teach you. One tip I've learned if the stove is as low as you can get it and the pan is still too hot - pull the pan to one side side so that only part of it is on the heating element or flame to further reduce the pan temperature.

It just takes a little practice and you'll be happy with your cookware for your lifetime like me! You bought some of the best cookware on the market at a competitive retail price the way I bought mine 40 years ago.

No Problems with New Era

I am sorry to hear so many bad reports about New Era cookware. I have had mine about three years and really love it. I have had no problems with it at all. I have used it with two different stoves, an older electric and a new flat top.

Yes, it is harder to clean than non-stick. Personally, I don't trust the chemicals in non-stick cookware.

I believe my food truly tastes better and have had comments from friends and relatives to this effect.

To clean my pans, I use Orange Clean Paste or Cream cleaner with a mildly abrasive sponge.

I hope the company does a better job of addressing and resolving the complaints and issues people are having. If they want to stay in business, they should back their product.

The complaint against New Era is from a non-existent consumer. New Era is the manufacturer of the worlds finest cookware and I have been proud to sell it for many years.

Let me first point out I am a distributor of New Era Cookware NOT an employee. I have worked the show in Seabrook NH that was mentioned in the report submitted, and know personally the only two other distributors who have also worked this show. I keep meticulous records of all transactions, as do my associates, and we have thoroughly researched all sales and no one named Dennis, or any one from Laconia was a customer.

I have sold cookware for over ten years and not just the New Era product line. I have been offered positions with other manufacturers during my career and have chosen New Era primarily because it is of the highest quality of all brands.

To suggest that the individual who sold the cookware is unavailable is just not true and if ANY ONE WANTS TO CONTACT ME:

When a company has been in business as long as New Era has, it is foolish to think some form of complaint will not be generated. All legitimate complaints are dealt with professionally and promptly.

This is not the first time someone has used the Internet to cause us embarrassment under somewhat questionable circumstances. An individual once went so far as to malign our product because of its quality in one sentence, only to say in the next that she decided to sell our products.

The Internet is both the greatest and most dangerous public forum ever created and consumers need to fully investigate companies for themselves before they blindly listen to questionable reports from questionable sources.
