New Meadows Motel is a unpleasant place to stay for any reason. Ripoff! Brunswick Maine

They never cleaned my room and cleaned other guests cottages. I received verbal abuse from the wife of the owner. Tried to make me pay for remodeling of the cottage. All buildings are at least 60 years old and worn out looking. They harassed me at work. The wife would start yelling at me after she received several hundred dollars for the room and refused to refund my money when I decided I did not want to stay and deal with the bad attitude.

But I stayed to avoid losing my money. I slipped and fell down the stairs because they did not de-ice the stairs during the winter. The air is bad in the cottages maybe mold. The wife of the owner would lunge at me in a aggressive manner. The place looks like the Bate's motel. They cleaned everyone else's cottage except mine. I had to clean the cottage myself. I'm not sure what problem they had with me other than them having a bad attitude.

When I was making a turn, the wife hit the brakes in her car to slow to a idling speed, maybe 5 mph. I swerved to the right to avoid hitting her truck and almost drove off the road avoiding her truck. While she was doing this I saw her having a mean smile at that time. I slid about 50 yards into the shopping center parking lot before regaining control. When I drove past her on the side of the road she was parked and waving her arms and yelling profane language at me. This is the typical treatment for non native people in the local area. The locals like to start confrontations with people not from around there. They live up to the state motto "I DIRECT".

My advice to military members is not to be stationed in Maine. They hate the military here. Dealing with the bad attitude of the owners was only a fortaste of my experiences of nasty people here. On the license plate it says the vacation state. They should change to motto on the license plates to the aggressive state. There were bugs in the cottage as well. You're better off staying in an igloo in the winter and a tent in the summer than staying at this motel.
