I use craigslist regularly as a site to find employment and other temporary gigs. We all know that you're taking a risk when you use them, and this time, they almost got me and my boyfriend. They had about a hundred different postings with title like "IMMEDIATE HIRE FRONT LOBBY/DESK ATTENDANT" or "MALES/FEMALES NEEDED FOR OPEN POSITIONS" and I decided to take a look. Inside, the postings say that you need no security or previous experience and that they would train you to start immediately. All excited, I sent them our resumes and within the hour, Ms. Smith called back for my boyfriend and the next day, Mr. Jeffries called back for me. They ask you a few questions over the phone (do you have a valid Social, any security training, a criminal record), ask if you have $100 or the training fee and then schedule for you to come all the way out to Jamaica, Queens (with the lure that you'll be working in Manhattan) within a day or so for the interview. So I get my interview set up, still beyond excited at the thought of $12 bucks an hour, and tell my little bro to apply if he needs work. I'm sure you can only imagine how mortified I was when he told me he'd been there, done that, gone on the interview, paid the hundred smackers and still had no job. They require additional training, at the NON-REFUNDABLE cost of $220 bucks (200 for the certificate and 20 for the application) and in the end you are left with nothing but interview after sad and lonely interview. The only bright side to this situation is that I spoke to my brother before I made a complete a$$ out of myself and paid $480 for neither me nor my boyfriend to have a job. BEWARE OF TRAILBLAZERS INC PPL!!!!!!
