Needed to search for a news article from 1987 on someone receiving Eagle Scout rank. I ended up at NewspaperArchives.com. None of the articles had anything at all to do with Eagle Scout (I kept getting ads for snow blowers for sale). In order to view results and articles you are forced to reister for a "free" 14 day trial. Since I could not get what I was looking for I cancelled the same day.
The site charged me $6.95 for the "free" trial and later $49.95 for another six month subscription. They said they would cancel my account and issue a refund but no refund has been received. I contacted them again today to ask about the refund and got this:
Donna,
You are ridiculous. Your credit card company bank, not your local bank. Visa or Mastercard will take 14 days to return the money. You have been blocked from further communication with our company.
Chris
So this is how they handle customer complaints, pass the blame and block customer communication.
