NHE CERTIFICATION E-mails are Bogus Scam Attempts!

NHE Certification or National Housing Endowment Certification emails are circulating the country. So far, I have received a dozen or so of them. I wasn't sure it was a scam at first because the logos and company information seem real. I've learned that the real National Housing Endowment scholarship programs are accessible via their website:
http://www.nationalhousingendowment.org/category.aspx?sectionID=1717&channelID=1407.

If you're interested in the Herman Smith program, which the fraud emails proclaim they are about, just go directly to the site; http://www.nationalhousingendowment.org/reference_list.aspx?sectionID=1738&channelID=1407

Phishing Explained. Phishing scams are typically fraudulent email messages appearing to come from legitimate enterprises (e.g., your university, your Internet service provider, your bank). These messages usually direct you to a spoofed web site or otherwise get you to divulge private information (e.g., password, credit card, or other account updates). The perpetrators then use this private information to commit identity theft.

One type of phishing attempt is an email message stating that you are receiving it due to fraudulent activity on your account, and asking you to "click here" to verify your information
