My wife Darlene and I stayed at this bayfront "luxury" home in the fall of 2015. The location is beautiful and the house is too...if it weren't so run down. After our stay, my wife cleaned the house top to bottom. The owner, one Nick Souris from Connecticut, offered my wife the housekeeping job in 2016 based solely on how immaculate the house was left after our stay. He offered her $150 per week to clean on Sundays between rental clients. She had 5 hours of non-stop work to do before new renters came in at 4:00 P.M. He had been paying a "professionall licensed" cleaning service $200 per week for this work, which was shoddy at best..

This past spring Souris mentioned the house was in need of interior painting, and many repairs. Having painted our own home many, many times through the years, she offered her services to perform this task, and I offered to assist with the repairs that were sorely needed. He also provided a Certificate of Occupancy Guideline for us to follow. In early May of this year, we purchased 3-4 gallons of paint and supplies to professionally do this job. This house is advertised as 4200 square feet. Prior to painting, she deep cleaned the entire house including the walls, trim. and baseboard, She even took a toothbrush dipped in bleach to rid the bathrooms of filth and mold.

It took my wife six, 10-12 hour, non-stop days, Sunday through Friday, to meticulously paint the interior of this house, including all the trim, doors, and baseboard. This was completed AFTER she meticulously cleaned and scrubbed every interior surface of this house. In addition, I spent another 7-8 hours fixing much of the disrepair that was needed to comply with the Ocean County Certificate of Occupancy Guideline. For all this work we charged a total of $1874. which included $254 woof materials. 

(My daughter and her husband came to visit Friday night, and left early Sunday morning.)

My wife proceeded to deep clean the house once again on Sunday for the new renters coming in on Tuesday the 17th of May. Apparantly, the house was immaculate as stated in a review posted July 1, 2016. This can be viewedat https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p931984

After completing this job we sent the owner an invoice specifying all costs and labor. (Attached)  We used the same hourly rate paid for just the weekly cleaning service. We did not charge him for all the running around that needed to be done going back and forth to Home Depot or Lowes. The following is his response to the invoice, and my answering email.

Jack and Darlene you got to be kidding me I'm very upset and very disappointed trying to take advantage of me I really can't believe you never told me that you're going to charge $30 an hour he told me was no big deal to do a little bit of painting this is absolutely ridiculous I took the weekend Thursday  through Monday so you can spend time with your daughter at home I lost $1425 just so you could spend Mother's Day weekend with your daughter I can't believe you would do that to me I don't want you to clean I was giving you 150 I was paying 122 a professional licensed cleaning company because I trust you why would you do that to me I guess you took kindness for weakness.
