After reviewing vehicles online I contacted New Jersey State Auto Auction regarding two vehicles. The salesman insisted that despite the vehicles being listed, they were not available but aggressively attempted to sell me a same model vehicle with over 92510 miles on the vehicle. He insisted that the vehicle would not be available soon and I needed to put $500 down and if I wasn't able to make a deal when I got to the dealership I would get a refund.
I drove two hours to see the vehicle which was not in the condition stated on their site or what the salesman said. I asked to see another vehicle. The dealer told me ok but then took me to see their finance employee. I was never shown another car. The finance person insisted that their dealership use a relative who was with me and my fiance's information for credit purposes. He then came later and said he got us approved for 12.9 % financing. I told him that is not possible and I wanted to see another vehicle. I was never showed another vehicle. He said if he just used my sister's information he would get us a prime rate which he said was 7.9%. I also told him that was not a good rate either and wanted to look into something else and possible get financed elsewhere.
That day after we left my fiance and sister (relative) said they would not sign their name for that kind of vehicle that wasn't in the shape promised nor at that kind of rate. I called the sales manager the next day.
When speaking to the Sales Manager he told me that the deposit of $500 dollars was not going to be refunded, 7.9% was a "prime" rate and he held the vehicle for a week and it was delisted. However, this all transpired within two days and the vehicle was never delisted. I also informed the sales manager that I was the one who paid the $500 and signed for it but they never ran my credit or tried to get me financed. He told me it doesn't matter they are not going to refund my money.
