No 1 Deals Sale of damaged, inferior and hazardous products with no refund Melbourne Victoria, Australia

No 1 Deals imports motorcycles directly from China and then sells them direct to the consumer (still in the shipping crate) through Ebay with a clever and deceptive marketing plan.

I purchased a quad (motorcycle) from the company and assembled it. I found the following: Floppy rear axle spline (or wheel hub), misaligned front axle, brakes grab and release uncontrollably, faulty engine (unknown components) causing oil to blow out of the relief valve, fuel leaking out of damaged fuel filter and fuel line, cooling fan worked for a few minutes but then died, headlight bracket and headlight broken, seat badly constructed dangerously floppy and not secure, entire quad is unstable and dangerous to operate.

I purchased this quad for my young daughter so she could ride around on the farm alongside myself. When she rode the bike it almost flipped her off (twice) and this concerned me (initially I thought it was her inexperience). I then test-rode it myself and found it to be incredibly unstable - infact it almost flipped me off also. Then, returning from the paddock, smoke came out from the engine area and I realised fuel was leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

My first thought was the safety of my children, that my daughter could have been scarred for life or even killed.

The products operational and manufacturing characteristics fall short of any reasonable safety or operating standard and as such could not be used.

I am very dissappointed in the purchase. Apparently, the bike was also damaged prior to receipt - dropped from a height - (during transit) by the couriers, however, No1 Deals state these were only minor damages.

I requested a full refund $1049.00 based on; damage caused by the courier, faulty workmanship, poor quality assurance and compromised safety characteristics. But refunds are apparently not their policy - they will repair the goods and return it but is the limit of their obligation. No1 Deals are adamant that because I had ridden the bike, there will be no refund (even though it was ridden for no more than 20 minutes in total). I am adamant that my children's health and well-being far outweigh the risk of having that particular product within reach. More recently, I purchased a Japanese model (Yamaha) and, more money but, am completely satisfied. Now I am positive that the product from No 1 Deals is dangerous, sub-standard in quality and manufacture, and WILL probably kill somebody one day! They are JUNK!

I found them (Claire, from No 1 Deals) to be rude and un-sympathetic in communications. I returned the product and have not heard anything since.

Note: I actually purchased 4 of these quads, all at the same time, all brand new - different sizes, 3 from another company, two for my sons and one for myself - mine arrived with a damaged engine and as such has never been ridden at all, the other 2 were operational but have both died since (engine and electrical failure) - neither can be started. (The other company is Atomik Motorsports who, incidently have not fullfilled their responsibilities also and will subsequently be the entry in another report).

I would suggest that these companies and possibly others are jumping on the bandwagon, importing cheap Chinese products and flogging them off for a quick profit to unsuspecting persons bedazzled by colorfully misleading advertising.

Be very aware, these products are extremely low quality and extremely dangerous. I would not have one if it was given as a gift!
