I left my 3 pound Yorkie,Gizzy, along with my daughters' 70 lb Lab/ German shepard, Rashi, with Noah's Bark Kennel in Warner Robins while my family and I went out of the country on vacation. Our condition to leave them there was that they always stay together as they are best buddies and I know that Rashi would protect Gizzy. I know that because I have personally seen it. They agreed to keep them together or we would never have left them.
When we returned, we found that my little yorkie had been killed by another dog. They claim that a small dog (who is being treated for hip dyplesia by a vet every week and can't even jump up on a bed) jumped over a four foot fence and killed my dog by picking him up and breaking his spine with deep punture wounds. They claim that one of their employees got to the dog and made him drop Gizzy even before Rashi could get there. We told them before we left that Rashi could jump over a four ft fence, so why would they put them in a small pen? I believe that if Rashi were in the pen, that he would have been all over that other dog, long before a human could get in.
A lot of whys are unanswered to my satisfaction. The end result is that my darling companion and faithful little friend is gone forever after a horrible death.

Another dog killed at Noah's Bark

The resopnce you gave to the owner of that Yorkie is dispicable!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself. How about you stop lying to people and fix your facility. Yet again another dog has died at your facility due to your negelct. You responded by saying that you will never hand over an empty collar to another owner, but that seemed to be a lie once again. You said that you would hire more staff and fix the fences from the last incident, but yet again another lie. You said the same thing to the Yorkie's owner about fixing the facility and hiring more staff that you said to 13wmaz about the lab that was just killed. I find it disturbing that you care so much for these animals but yet continue to lie. How many more animals have to die? That poor little Yorkie might of had one bite that ended his presious little life but that lab had over 300 bited. That tells me that there was NO ONE watching those dogs!!!! I also find it disturbing that yet again another dog "went over the fence" when you said you were going to fix those fences.

I am STILL SO SAD
It's now been a year since I lost my Gizzy. I miss him so much and cry when I see pictures.
I have a new baby, a little girl named Daisy, a chunker weighing all of 5 lbs. Gizzy would have loved her. She will never be left in any kennel.

Sorry to hear about your loss Linda.
The owner acknowleged this dog was fragile/old. So the question is why would said owner allow other dogs near customers dog? I've seen dogs jump/climb higher fences; I don't even own or operate a kennel to know that some sorta non-site barrier should be added to the fence to avoid such acts.
The owner's post concerning 'facts'? Wasn't it just about the same thing said by the OP?

do the right thing and reimburse these people for their loss. Saying sorry online doesn't cut it. If you were legit, they would not even have to ask. You must have insurance, pay these people for their loss. Did you still charge them for the board?

sue them. Use small claims and no lawyer is needed. You should be able to recover the cost of the dog, the cost of the boarding, disposal of the remains.
I know nothing will take the pain of losing a loved pet, but they need to be held accountable for their neglect. It might make them change their shoddy practices and save the life of another dog in the future.

What happened to Gizzy was a tragic accident!
You did leave your dogs in our care: your baby died on our watch! We unfortunately can not change what happened. However, if you're going to file a complaint please get your facts correct. Your dogs were always kept together as you requested. When the incident happened Rashi was totally unresponsive but after all he is an elderly dog (11+ years).
The attacking dog was in the large dog outdoor area completely separate from Gizzy and Rashi. The attacking dog is approximately 16" tall, weight 40lbs, a sweet dog. She leaped a 4' chain link fence and jumped on Gizzy in a split second. My sons were close by but it was too late. Your wonderful vet told us he only found one small puncture wound on him. Gizzy was so small and delicate. Just as you never informed us Rashi could jump a 4" fence, we had no knowledge that the attacking dog could be aggressive or a fence jumper and we have no info from her owners on any hip problems she supposedly has, she played and ran with her "siblings" like any other dog and was not on any medication for dysplasia.
We have since been investigated and inspected by Centerville Animal Control and the Dept. of Agriculture and neither cited us for any violations, the occurrence was deemed by both agencies as an unfortunate accident. Immediately after the accident we removed all 4" fencing and are replacing it with 5' and 6' chain link and privacy fencing to ensure this can never happen again. We intend to never again hand an owner back an empty collar if it is preventable. We will always grieve over what happened to your little baby and we are so very sorry that it happened and for your loss but we can't change it.
If we could we would!
