After reading the ad for the World's Greatest Growing Machine, we were excited to part with our money for what we were led to believe was a great aeroponic unit. The machine (which is really a pvc tube with holes drilled along the top) is advertised as a hybrid system that is fully customizable to aeroponic, NFT, or drip configurations.

In reality, the system can only be operated as a drip system. This system IS NOT aeroponic (which equals near magical growth rates in plants).

We contacted North American Hydroponics after receiveing the unit and asked how this could be configured for aeroponic operation. We were told that an aeroponic conversion kit would be sent to us. The promised kit never arrived.

After 2 months of waiting, calling, and emailing without a response, we finally got "Ron" on the phone. When we explained that the system kit never arrived, Ron was kind enough to explain that the aeroponic cofiguration kit was being developed. When I queried as to why it was being advertised as an aeroponic system, Ron became extremely abusive and hung up on me.

Bottom line: This company is run by total scumbags, and the system does not operate as advertised.

We are filing suit in small claims court to remedy the situation, however we want everyone to stay away from this company. They are very bad news.

NA Hydroponics also promises lighting and nutrients at cost. We were able to get better pricing paying retail for the exact same light system that they claim to sell at cost.

Continued unjustified attack on our company...

AUTHOR: Ron - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 11, 2008

This second post is a continuation of the unjustifyed attack on our good name, likely from the same individual that launched the first attack...note the coincidental deragtory use of the 'scumbag' phrase, and the fact that he purports to be from Ohio, yet his fabricated 'refernce' in item 1 below is from the same city that the first poster is from.

To address the facts of the post:

1. The falsified reference to Northern Light & Garden in Beaverton, Oregon:
We contacted the good folks at NL&G, and confirmed the falsity of this report by talking to the Branch Manager, Mr. David Schalck. He verified that, while they had heard of our systems, neither he, nor the owner Mr. Trace Meyers, had ever recieved any negative feedback related to our product; The World's Greatest Growing Machine, or to any level of customer support offered by North American Hydroponics.

2. The claim that we are hiding or unreachable:
Our Post Office Box mailing address is used as a common business convenience, and is listed in both our company name and my individual name. This is easily verified by contacting the station chief at the USPO in Granite Falls, Washington. While I am reluctant to publish additional personal information in this forum (per the Terms of Use agreement), any customer that has ordered one of our systems has our physical address which is printed both on the Sales Order accompanying the order, and on the header of the Owner's Manual supplied with every unit. It is also available by routine inquiry to the State of Washington department of Revenue and the State of Washington Business Registrations.

3. The claim that there have been 'over 30 suits filed' against us:
Our company is a registered business in good standing in Washington state. Any effort to sue us, or serve said suit, by competent individuals would simply effect service against that registered entity. We have NEVER been sued...PERIOD. One might ask ones self how this complaining individual could possibly know that 'over 30' efforts to sue us had taken place...the answer is that he couldn't.

We pride ourselves on our customer support. We offer the ONLY 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee and 5-year warranty against leakage or manufacturing defects in the industry. Neither guarantee has ever been claimed. We are proud of that fact, and we stand behing our product.

We don't believe these reports are from our customers as no Sales Order numbers or verifiable contact information has been provided.

These posts may originate from one of the only two hydroponic suppliers that we have been forced to take legal action against in collection actions for unpaid invoices, both of which we prevailed in.

There are competing hydropoinic manufacturers in the Beaverton area, one of which we prevailed in a Patent Infringement action against, and our best guess is that these fabrications are the result of their inability to compete with our excellent design. Its a shame that a potentially useful service, such as the one offered by Rip-Off Report dot com, is allowed to be so easily taken advantage of by individuals who are so free to do harm without documentation.

Both of these postings violate the terms of use for this site, noted below:
1. Profanity, obscenity, threats of violence, racist remarks, false statements, etc.. 2. Rumors, speculation, or innuendo unless you have personal knowledge that your statements are true.

Once again, in the interest of maintaining the quality of this site, it is appropriate that they are removed.

As always, I may be reached at support at NAHydroponics dot com for additional information.

Best regards,
Ron

#5 Consumer Comment

Also screwed by these scumbags

AUTHOR: Tree Ozzied Up The Backside - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I suggest that anyone who has any questions regarding these con-artists contact Northern Light & Garden in Beaverton, Oregon. They have experience with this company attempting to ripoff consumers. The fact is, NaHydroponics has an online presence however, they will NOT disclose a street address and the PO Box listed on their website does not belong to them. Additionally, there have been in excess of 30 law suits filed in Oregon and Washington states but these suits have gone nowhere because the owners of na hydroponics cannot be served. They are essentially hiding from the plethora of disgruntled consumers. Buyer beware! They will screw you.

#4 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Unjustified attack on our business.

AUTHOR: Ron - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 07, 2008

I only recently became aware of this unjustifed attack on my company, and would like to address each point raised by this "customer". This report has no foundation in truth whatsoever, and we can conly speculate on the motivation of the individual or company posting it.

Regarding the statement that our systems are not aeroponic:
We have the only patented hydroponic design on the market, US Pat. 6247268. This patent covers a design which allows our system to be configured in any of the major growing technologies, including aeroponic. We however, cannot offer free support for every method that our system will support. We've done the technical comparisons of the various methods, and deliver this optimal Hybrid system as our default configuration...offering unlimited toll-free support. We cannot be expected to be a free design expert for customers wanting to deviate from our optimal design. Obviously, the endless 'problem' phone calls would be unaffordable and counterproductive.

This information is made perfectly clear to customers prior to purchase. In addition, North American Hydroponics offers the only unconditional money-back guarantee in the hydropoinics industry, so this 'customer' had the opportunity to simply return the system.

The comment that it took over two months to make contact with us is simply not believable. I'm here nearyly every day, and there is a 99% chance it will be me that answers the phone.

The comment accusing me of abuse and of hanging up on the customer is a lie. I have never, nor would I ever, treat a caller on the phone in that manner. I pride myself on the excellent customer service that we provide.

And the final lie is the promise of a lawsuit. We have never been sued by anyone.

A site like this looses it merit when it simply allows anyone to post whatever they want without notifying the accused of the complaint, thereby denying the opportunity for defense. It does a disservice to all when it becomes complicent in harming a reputable business, while mis-informing consumers.

I would ask that his post is removed, since:
1. I've provided the patent information (which can be accessed online) which proves the system can operate using aeroponics if desired. This disproves his first complaint.
2. If, in fact, he actually bought a system, he could have easily retruned it for a full refund.
3. Big surprise, he lied when he said he was filing suite. No suit ever materialized...since he has no cause of action.

I can be reached through www.NAHydroponics.com for clarification.

Best regards,

Ron
