Transport Masters was leased to North Star trucking Oil Division, Jim Morris, general manager,  in March of 2014. Our truck was given a  1987 , 27 years old trailer. We did not start transporting loads until April 12th and noticed  that the trailer had rust and broken landing gear which was documented by 2 mechanics. Upon having the landing gear defect reported we were told to run loads and that it was going to be repaired later. The trailer was given without any current DOT inspection or servicing certificate.   6 Days Later, while hauling a heavy 190 barrels of crude oil down a steep incline ,  a rusty spring broke and busted 4 rear axle tires. The driver could have lost his life and there could have been an oil spill. The driver safely took the truck and trailer to a mechanic shop where the oil was off loaded to another tanker.

The  General manager, Jim Morris,  has blamed the incident as driver error when clearly, it was defective, old,  and out dated equipment. North Star Trucking has refused to pay and has held our settlement which is over $7000.00.  The incident happened April 16.  In addition to being a hazardous trailer,  North Star has charge our company for the entire month of April and  May for the lease of this trailer. April should be pro-rated and the truck has been in the shop the entire time until this date. Also, the mechanic has given a written statement that this could not be determined as driver error.

North star has also charged two trucks fo insurance when there was 1 truck working with 1 trailer. We never received an insurance certificate to show we were ever on the insurance.

We are going to report this company for non- payment to the BBB and DOT should do a full audit of their log books and equipment. All of their customers should get a letter from concerning the unfair practices of this company.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

This is believable

I was on the flatbed side of this company and when you tell the management about needed repairs the common answer is "run it for a couple more weeks". i could go on and on with the numerous problems, like skimming of pay, nothing as told to hire the driver, incompetant management, and absent owner.
